Well, if you haven't already heard, UT3 has ditched the old folders of Textures, Maps, etc, in favor of something called CookedPC which is located in the Published and UnPublished Folders (the latter is stuff just made in the editor). So, its good and bad.

Reason its bad (yes i'm starting with the negative first... so sue me!), is cause its new and takes alot of getting used to.

Reason for it being good; WAY simpler to delete custom content like maps or characters or muts or gamemodes (yes gametypes is gone, its now called gamemodes).

Your thoughts? You think it was smart of Epic to go this new route or just plain stupid?

So CookedPC contains every file of the game rather than dividing the content into sub-folders?

That isn't a bad thing I would say.

Because when you make maps and such Epic says that the Editor "Bakes" them down in order to get rid of errors, unused and unseen textures, meshes ect, Hence "Cooked".

It was a great idea to separate all the custom and official content.

My Ut2004 System Folder is a mess.

I think it's bull, i can't figure out where the Textures and maps go, and what if it has new Static meshes, where do they go?

i hope the mac version uses this too? o well, i'll find out when it arrives.

From looking at the contents of the UT3 demo CookedPC folder, it is awfully obvious that they ditched all the sub-folders, now maps, textures, etc. all go into the same folder. (either Published or UnPublished, but those are not in the demo version)

I like it. The new method is more messy but it is easier to keep track of custom stuff.

Why couldn't they have kept the subfolders, but then added official and unofficial folders INSIDE of those...

Yeah, i'm liking how you don't need to worry at all if deleting your entire CustomMaps folder will leave you without any maps in UT3.
