How about adding slugs as ammunition to the shotguns? I'm not exactly sure how they would work in game but it might be nice. Make the special button be used to switch ammuntion and make every box of shells include a few slugs. :} What say you?

sounds cool! to me anyway. I love slugs becuase it's like having a super powered rifle! definately would add a little variety.

A shotgun firing slugs means one very powerful projectile at a time. Right now all the shotties fire pellets, which means a bunch of smaller projectiles that spread each into their own direction.

It is harder to hit something with slugs, but the target won't feel so good after just one hit.

Its trading the chance for a hit for more damage. I like the idea maybe have a drop down menu under the shotgun picture in Load out where you can select the slugs or something.

Plus the range is much longer.

My mod included where you can get slug variants of the shotguns, but it's very hard to even hit someone. If you do... it's HEAVY damage.

Hm they could do a llittle bit less damage, worse accuracy and since they are chubby and not sharpy like the sniper bullets, armor could be more effective against them. :/

Actually, the sheer weight and force of the slug would punch through all but the heaviest infantry armor pretty easily with enough velocity. As for accuracy, I think they should have OK accuracy, when static, that is, but horrid accuracy when moving. Perhaps a risk of misfire and the whole gun jamming up, or simply exploding in your hands

No, the shape would definitely be a factor. The blunt tip dissipates the force over a wider area, so it wouldn't do so well against body armor. It'll hurt like hell, and it'll probably cause some internal damage, but it won't penetrate.

if you got a good vest on, the slug probably wouldn't penetrate it. it would sure knock the shit out of you tho.

maybe it could knock you of your feet implement a code so that you would fall on your back or so?

its called Rag doll Madness(it works with BW fine).

for BW to force you to get knocked down alone.......
well any of the huge ass guns could do that(rail gun vs shotgun slug.... hmm.....so the mutator above works fine with instant action)

There is actually one bug I found with Ragdoll Madness and BW that I found, where you would constantly put down and bring up your weapon if you're playing dead or knocked down. You can hear the sounds for it looping continuously.

Also, if a ragdolled person (not dead) falls into a damage volume (lava, deadly water, acid, etc.), the game crashes to desktop.

It's a lot of fun though.

Shotgun slugs are not that simple, shotgun barrels differ quite a bit, different ammo types (bird-shot versus deer-shot for instance) requires different barrels, with a different "Choke" to be effective.

Unfortunately, slugs dont work with Choked barrels, and deer-shot does not work very well with zero choke barrels, so the two dont really mix.


Slugs are usually used to hunt large game, but the shotgun really must be fitted with a special zero-choke rifled barrel for them to work, and once that is done, you cannot use pellets in it without first changing the barrel.

But ofcourse, this is a game, a sci-fi themed one at that, so we could choose to ignore that, maybe even go for some fancy Sabot flechette type thing.
