I'm going back to normal weapons (AR's, shotguns, etc.) and i wants a FAMAS.

Story- Along with M50, the Enravion took an old FAMAS F1 and modified it to make it a more powerful bullpup assault rifle, the FAMAS F2. Gone is the Grenade launcher and 40 round clip, in is an underbarreled shotgun that fires 16 gauge ammo along with a 45 round clip of 7.76mm rounds. however, it lacks a camera for spying and a decent scope, it's 5X zoom while some say it's far, it cannot see people on Facing moons.

Shotgun addon is soemthing we want, but if it should be on just another rifle is another matter... I think the SRS900 should be uique as a automatic rifle with scope.

I disagree. I actually thing the M50, too should have a scope, to replace the iron-sights/LCD thing. One special scope that can alternatively display the scope view and the camera view. The aperture sights on the M50 really won't work properly unless the depth of field or some similar effect can be simulated in UT2004, which I doubt. A special scope would neatly fix this problem for us.

Scope is the SRS900's trademark. Just as the GL is for the M50. Why should the M50 have it too? I wish the M50 could have some other speical than the camera but not a scope.

The SRS900's "trademark" is that it's a fairly powerful med-long range automatic sniper. The M50 could simply be given a weaker scope zoom.

I'd also like to see a red dot sight for the XK2. And I mean a real red dot sight, not the beam-less laser sight nonsense the D49 and LeMat have.

Why does everyone want SILLY SCOPES!!!! Assault rifles were NEVER meant to have scopes put on them. I HAte the scope on the SRS, the scope killed that gun for me. FAMAS Cannot have a scope mounted to them as far as i remember, the carry handle is permanent. Scopes belong on snipers rifles. I Agree with Kien on this. I say if theres gonna be another rifle it should not have a scope. I seen rifles recoil so much it destroyed the mount the scope was on.

I dunno about what you're saying there..... actually, teh standard red dot scope is about ideal for a war rifle- allows much more rapid aquisition of the target.

I say we need more guns that can utilize a scope. Honestly I want a pistol with a scope... Remember the Falcon 2 from Perfect Dark? The best version was easily the scoped one!

Yeah it also cuts off your field of view. A person that is used to iron sights can line them up just as fast as a red dot. Plus Iron sights are a lot more robust and can take quite a beating before needing to be zeroed in again. A scope is much more delicate than iron sights.

Depends what he's using realy, is he a normal rifleman? Is he an m203 gunner? Saw gunner? what does he do? If he's a rifleman then he's probably gonna be using the red dot or holographic sights which if i had a choice between the two i would choose holographic, The m203 is attached to the underside of the rifle and I believe you have to have iron sights on one of them. The saw can accept a few different sights as well. So i think it depends what he does in the military and what his personal pref is.

There are at least two reasons I would support putting a scope on the M50.

1. The current M50's aperture sights really, really don't work when lined up properly. Worse, the firing animation kicks the gun back and up quite a bit, obscuring your vision a lot. Replacing the whole mess with a scope would fix it.

2. The grenade launcher lacks sights. Having separate iron sights for the gun and grenade launcher could get messy, and a scope would be much easier.


Also, the M50 doesn't have much recoil to speak of, so I wouldn't worry about it breaking the scope's mount.

I dont see how the recoil of the rifle would change just by adding a scope, the scope is gonna kick up just like the iron sights do.

I was talking about actually lining up the rear and front sights for the M50, like you would an actual gun. It's a fairly simple matter to line them up properly, but the whole point of aperture sights is pretty much lost when the rear sight doesn't blur. Plus, the actual firing animation (not the recoil stats that dictate where the gun will point after the shot) pulls the gun about two inches back and half an inch up, completely obscuring your vision every time you fire.

Now, it's possible to just modify the firing animation not to move your gun so much, but it still leaves the whole aperture sight problem. Replacing the whole mess with a scope would eliminate both problems, as you don't have to render the 3D gun model at all in scope mode. Without the 3D model, there's nothing obscuring your view every time you fire.

Well, I suppose if you want to get cute, you could ask Runestorm to have the camera on the M50 display some zoom in front of the gun, as if the camera was on before placing it.

i love the camera in the m50, it is very useful for onslaught

Scopes on auto rifles is cool sometimes. They should be rare though.

I was thinking of doing that myself on my mod but didn't know how scripted textures work.

Sargeant Smash, I see no reason as to having no scopes on assault rifles. If used properly, it acts like a super-iron sight as well as a telescopic sight for long-range shooting. All it does is help, other than a tiny amount of extra weight, a pound or two at the most. As for the FAMAS having no scope due to a carry handle, being how it is a derivative and an upgraded version, then it could be modified with a scope as opposed to the handle. And Kien, I agree, that original stuff is always fun. Sometimes, the traditional stuff with a little new flair is great aswell. Be more flexible.

Most of the fighting goin on now days happens inside of urban areas under 200-300yds from a target, where a scope would be a waste of space and a possible liability, if it gets snagged on something then BAM it could cost you your life.

But Smashy... it's not necessary to care that much about realizm in this game.

i think the FAMAS is a great idea, as for the design i would have to agree with kaboodles, a new model would be best...

Kien, reality is important for a good game, unless, of course, it is parodic or supposed to be very wierd, and just plain crazy. Take Whacked! for instance. The game is about an insane gameshow host whose game is a deathmatch, and is full of really stupid, badly-animated commercials. Back toward Smash,
"Now adays" means pretty much nothing in a shooter hundreds of years in the future. No relevance whatsoever. While yes, much of the fighting DOES happen on industrialized worlds, there is also a lot of open-field fighting.
