This is a heavy two handed sword, which is dragged across the floor due to the weight, which has a deflecting shield encasing the blade. When hit with this sword the target is thrown across the room.

Primary Fire - one heavy swing, capable of hitting multiple targets in one swing

Secondary Fire - the character shifts the blade to behind him/her to prepare for a vertical attack, this creates a circular area of knockback around the character, however this makes blocking inpossible

Mode 1 - No shield - in this mode there is no shield which means more damage but alot less knockback

Mode 2 - Slight shield - in this mode there is a slight shield so the damage is decreased but there is a knockback which pushes the target back enough for you to get ready to attack again

Mode 3 - Concusion shield - this does very little damage but massive knockback

Special - Throw! - the character swings the sword like a hammer in the hammer toss, the screenspins so the user doe not know which way he/she is throwing it. When thrown, the sword bounces due to the shield. Also the sword detects any sentient life and the shield turns off and inpales the victim.

I know that this may seem too powerful but the sword damages/knockbacks anyone, be it youself (when thrown)or an ally

I dunno, seems brutish. Like something my Tyrannus, or a particularly big, crazy Skrith might use. I'd say it fits pretty well.

Momentum? The wieght of the sword could allow it to swing forward with great force.

Even if it is dragged across the floor, that may be to ensure one has energy to swing the sword for a good while, not because it is too heavy to swing, yet still relatively weighty.

How the heck do you jump with this thing? And don't give me that "switch to a lighter weapon"-Counterstrike crap.

If you wanna send people across the map/into a wall, why not just make a blunt weapon?

That requires great force from the one swinging. And if the sword is dragged around due to weight, not just to spare energy, then it requires something called inhuman force.

You are right about it, if it is dragged due to weight. But this idea is new, so it is in the trouble shooting stage, really.

DK:Perhaps a one-armed pole jump? I'm not thinking it's possible, either. And yes, I agree, a big blunt weapon, or an axe would be better.

1. O.K, I don't have a way with words. I meant that it is held like the soul edge off "Soul Calibur 2", not actually dragging but slightly lifted.
2. how does the character jump? Well, the swords deflector shield fires a downwards pulse; this is not comfortable but effective (anyway, how can a character double jump; if you are going to be picky about being able to jump with a sword then why have you not picked that up yet?)
3. How does the character swing the sword? As with jumping the sword releases a pulse in the opposite direction giving the sword enogh momentom do only have G-force affecting it, less gravity.

P.S I'm sorry if I sound a bit bitter but this was only an idea and I thought with the character being able to run with an arsenal which happens to not take up any room (unless he has a backpack that is a T.A.D.I.S this is actually impossable)

It's not called a concussion sword, it's a Zweihander, Longsword, or Claymore.

He means it is held like that, not looks like that, SX. This idea is a bit complex, but I like it. Needs a little fine-tuning, though.

I think a concussion weapon could be pretty fun, but the idea of it implemented as a large sword in this manner? Not too crazy about it.

I'd say bring it down to a reasonable size, make it a bastard sword (sword designed to be used with one or two hands, also known as a hand and a half sword), a little on the large size, but still easily manouvred solely by the wielder's own strength. The problem with using the concussion fields to swing it lies in the fact that technology like that would have a tendency to break down or lose power or something like that when its least convenient.
Not as reliable as a sword.

I'd say give this a limited ammo (though it should recharge over time), cut down its size to a rather cumbersome bastard sword, and let the user carry it in a practical manner.

The ammo should deplete when striking something with the concussion fields turned on, while it uses less ammo if you got the fields turned down, and no ammo if the fields are turned off.

Other than that, I like the concept, but an oversized sword just doesn't interest me.

Also, a shield using this type of tech might be cool too.

Hmmmm... your onto something there. how about a cane, yes a walking stick. I know this is a big change (SWORD-->cane) but I even have a reason for the Concusion part, as I shall explain through an advert.

With this new device anybody who may approach you will be thrown across the roomand due to the lightweight core this device can be used by any lady who can play tennis. Less than two years after this product was released the creators of UT bought the rights to this device for their games.

I think it could work. It'd be a weapon of the aristocrats that can afford to hire body guards for better protection.

I think it should have a really ornate look to it, more so than what you got pictured, but a similar style could work.

This would be a really interesting weapon, wouldn't really fit too well in this current rendition of BW, but perhaps later on.
