How about bringing the menu system up to par to UT2004? Here's an idea: how about we make a patch to make UT3 menu system feel more like a PC game instead of a console port and give us all the fun options that came with UT2004. No? You just want to fix some bugs?

Wait, they are already on patch 3? Its been less than half a year and they are to the third patch? Either they're releasing the patches too early, or they released the game too early.

And yeah, that menu system really sucks. That really could use a face lift...

Please don't tell me the menu system is still the same stinking pile of shit as it is in the demo...

It's a console game. UT is not a comp game anymore. The twisted consoles are taking over all the good games.

Well, it's a slightly improved pile of crap. Epic did a little cleaning in the menu system, but it's still just as restricting. once you get into a match, it's pretty fun and also just pretty with my new GeForce 8800GT, but single player camaign is still nothing more than a sequence of CTF, TDM, and Conquest matches, where you can sometimes choose between 2 differnet maps.

Has anyone figured out if there is a way to setup map voting for UT3? I absolutely cannot wait until Mapmixer for UT3 comes out.

The more I play UT3 the more I enjoy it. However the menu system sucks and any mutators you add are removed and have to be added every time you load the game.

Personally I though the campaign was OK. It is obviously not a story driven game and I think they came up with a good excuse for everything. Not to mention the cutscenes are cool.

Some people are too harsh on this game. I didn't like it at first but after a while you start seeng through it's (numerous) flaws.

Also personally, I think it is now much easier to install and uninstall mods - as they are kept in seperate
folders to stock material.


PS: something wierd is happening on My PC, I have an overclocked Gt 8600 and some games (including UT3) are getting what seems like better framrates on full detail with high resolutuons then they are on medium. I have checked and although it says I am getting lower FPS the game is playing much more smoothly. Is this becuase the frames are more constant or what?

Computer != PC
An xbox is a computer in the same way that a quarter is a coin. This is analgous to a case in which Bjossi points out that a dime is a coin, then X says "try paying for something that costs $0.25 with that." This would be a case I learned about in psychology class called "Overextension", where two seperate objects are assumed to belong to the same category due to the similar traits.

A computer is a piece of machinery that calculates in order to perform actions such as math solving, generating imaging or 3D worlds. As far as I know consoles can do that.

My point is, just because its a computer, does not mean it is the same as a PC. There are things you can do on one that you can't easily do on another.

ANd the whole point Kien was trying to make is that the gaming industry is moving away from PCs and on to consoles.

Yeah, developers/publishers are just following the gamers. Only god knows why the PC is suddenly in danger of extinction though. Maybe gamers are becoming more and more stupid; can't handle all the work of doubleclicking icons.

And no one tinks that it is a lot more boring to put maps/mods etc in Ut3? all those cooked, published, blahblah, while in Ut2004 it was a lot easier.

I liked UT2004's way of doing it much better than UT3's.
Just simple folders categorized by file types; anims in one folder, sounds in the other, etc.

Consoles aren't exactly gonna die, the more money Nintendo/Microsoft/Sony gets, the more they make it, the less money they get, they lower the price of the console so they get more money in their pocket, may not be much, but they still get dough in their pocket.

Its just a menu, yes it isn't perfect and your not able to get as good a customized setting as in UT2k4, but whatever. Its the game that your playing,not the UI.

But it gives a console feel of it which lowers your will to play. :< Feeling that it's made for consoles makes you like it less.

really the UT3 menu didn't made me think of a console... (ah, that gory bloody design is cool, sorry UT2004ers), but if it becames more moddable, it would be perfect.

Not that I'm bashing the gameplay. UT3 has the best vanilla gameplay of any UT installation, once you're in the game.

Ut99 players tend to like UT3 more than 2k4 players
