I love Doom 3 and all doom games!! The games just amazing, the graphics were top notch and the gameplay was creepy and fun at the same time. Really got my adrenaline pumping.

That is the thing I love about iD's games. Mindless action in gorgeous graphics (at the time of game's release). Still today I love games like Quake and Quake 2 to no limits. I couldn't care less about predictable enemy placement or repetitive use of textures. Each level is and feels unique and the action is fun, a variety of guns and variety of enemies.

If I want games with complex layout and gameplay, I play games that actually aim towards that goal.

Oh well, it still is scary as heck. Then again, i'm still paranoid of going through Ravenholm in HL2... God that level is evil!

The headcrabbed skeletons that climb up the walls creep me out big time. And they run bloody fast.

Ravenholm scares the crap outa me.

It cracks me up when they run like maniacs towards me and I shoot their head off with a shotgun blast.

I'm one of those people who loved the crap out of Ravenholm,I'm thinking about starting up HL2 just to play it again sometime.

Doom 3 was nice, though the first and the 2nd were much enjoyable.
I didn't finished it though !

A thing I noticed and was kind of sad :

in the future, there is absolutely no possibility to find some stick paper paper to attach the flashlight to the gun ! I guess poeple in the future will think it's a useless object and none will ever be made again.
Sad, it could have saved some life !

I think that was done for gameplay and atmospheric reasons. You might as well use the same logic and criticize how little oxygen we get when going outside. Or how the demons are killable with weapons of our dimension.

But those problems are forgettable It's a science fiction game after all.

I'm not really criticizing, I'm rather laughing at it , the game is still great, but having to switch from light to guns is quite annoying. If they darken the area a bit more and attach the flashlight to the gun, the atmosphere can be as great.

But I admit I was expecting of Doom 3 something more... Barbaric ! It's quite calm compared to 1 and 2, lol.

But what I really don't understand is that a lot of poeple complain about Doom 3 compared to Doom 1 and 2 because it's totaly a different gameplay, and so on...
But if the dev. would have made a game like the 1st and the 2nd, it would have been even more criticized like it's just Doom 1/2 with new graphics !

Yeah, I was like that too. As a Doom game, it really doesn't have the same feel, but I always loved it. Just as a different game.

It has a good feeling of survival horror, while Classic Doom was more of a one man army taking out hordes of demons. Not too much Survival Horror aspect in it.

Still, both Classic Doom and Doom 3 are masterpieces, some of the finest examples of video games to date, if you ask me.

I find Doom 1 boring. Doom II is good. You can not play without the double shotgun, which for some reason does 3 times the damage of the standard one, same as a rocket I think. Also, what is Doom without the Arch-vile, pain elemental and mancubus etc? Those came in Doom 2.

Well, my heart will always go for Heretic! (Hexen 1 et 2 are nice but I get quickly fed up at the puzzle thingies in a fps) Sad the 2nd Heretic was so weird, much more acrobatic and with inspiration from Jedi Knight
Though it wasn't bad at all, but it was a totaly new game.

Doom 3 is a bit like Heretic 2, totaly new game, total new feelings but not bad at all and really enjoyable.
Did Doom 3 had a multiplayer? Cooperative? How was it?

Recent games lack of cooperative gameplay, one of the best feature game ever knew in multi and simply knocked away

I remember the cooperative play of Doom 1 and 2 with 2 friends on our old 486, it was a lot of fun, with our tactics and strategies to save ammo, lol. Trying to kill a cyber demon with brass knuckles

My heart goes for Hexen 1. Hexen 2 was a dissapointment. Heretic 2 was strange compared to the first game but it had nice magic weapons. Even though several of them felt weak.

Newer games has more serious gameplay with scripted sequences and cut scenes making coop-play screwed. But of course that's the most fun playmode. Perhaps we should have more simple shooties where coop is well suited. Painkiller should have coop. I once tested a coop mod for HL1 and it worked till some place in the game, then it crashed or something. The nice thing was that you could use the multiplayer player models. Me and my friend were both soliders.

You did NOT just tell me Doom 1 was boring. So I'll pretend that was never typed.

As for co-op, I love it. Serious Sam had it and is one of the best games to incorporate it, if you ask me.

I think Doom 3 had 2 player co-op, but only for the Xbox. There were mods for Doom 3 on PC though that gave you co-op.

Not sure if I played Doom 3 co-op though. Seems like it'd be pretty fun though.

Its one of the reasons I love the Halo series so much, its got great co-op.

Just wish more games had co-op...

Painkiller would be a GREAT co-op game! Man I love that game...

Quake 1 and 2 had great coop too.

About Coop gameplay and if you own a Nintendo DS and super card, it is possible to play Doom 1&2 + Quake 1&2 wireless on it (though quake 2 is not really stable yet), it's really great.

Sometimes I relaunch Doom 2 with the Doomsday engine (to make the game with doom engine in 3d).
It works really well too.

Well, anyway, to come back to the coop part, I would have loved to see one in Far Cry, it would have been really amazing with so much freedom

Never tried the one from HL, sad it was buggy but I always wanted to try the coop mod from Alien vs. Predator 2, sad I lost the discs.

If Doom 3 has some coop. mod or what, I'm gonna try to find it back

I think the mods are on ModDB, one is called Last Man Standing Coop and the other is called Open Coop. I didn't try either of them though, so I have no idea what the difference is.

Well, that's what I was thinking about the name too, but I think you can play regular old fashioned coop in it. Perhaps it has several game modes?

...Maybe. I just hope they aren't trying to milk the franchise, but judging on the time delay between 3 and 4, I'd say this might just be something really good. REALLY good.
