Day 3.5 - Sniper Testing

Testing the Barrett against its other cousins (Sniper, Deermaster, Ranger and Railgun).

-Sounds need to be a little bit louder and "clunkier" (for the weapon draw and pickup sounds). Current fire sound effect is cool, but an added "echo" would be better.
-[optional] Can we have the bullet penetrate walls?
-[optional] 5 bullets per mag would be nice... as I've never heard of a weapon having a 4-bullet mag (please correct me if I'm wrong on this...).
-[optional] A little kickback would really add a cool effect to this weapon's "heaviness" and promote mounting.
-Cocking doesn't drop empty bullet casings (as compared with the Railgun and Sniper), but that's okay I guess.

Animation suggestions for Wangtang (I really dunno where to put these, so...):
-When you finally get working on the mounting animation, I suggest the left hand placing to be on top of the weapon's stock.
-Reload and Cocking animations need to be a bit longer, just to balance out with the current Sniper (the Barrett already fires faster than the Sniper). In exchange, make it feel more... "bad-ass", I suppose. Like, when putting the fresh mag, you could make like he's tapping it upwards. A little side motion would help, too.
-You can also check out RS's code for slow iron sights/scope resetting as a basis for your scoping animation (see one of my previous posts for this particular nitpick).

NOTE: I haven't nitpicked on the mounting functions 'coz I know they're still in the early stages... so I rarely use it.

It does kind of penetrate the walls, in AS-Abyss, I can shoot the throguh the solid wall and I still killed somone.

You can actually use the mounted targeting reticule to kill people through walls if you have a lock.

Ah, didn't know about that one... I'll test it out against dumb bots...

Day 5 - Minigun + Water =

Like the SMAT, the minigun has some issues when the player enters a body of water in a particular way:

-When a player enters the water running or jumping, they cannot fire the Minigun at faster RPM settings, even if they stand still underwater or change to the 600RPM setting.

-When a player enters the water slowly, they can fire the Minigun at faster RPM settings, even when sprinting underwater (the target cursor still turns transparent, but don't let that fool you).

-When a player enters the water running or jumping with a 600RPM setting, they can still fire the Minigun if they change to faster RPM settings, even when sprinting underwater.

Minor Nitpick:

I think the player shouldn't bleed when injuring himself while firing at higher RPM settings...

The minigun and water issues are pretty much impossible to fix without months of messy coding. This will probably remain as a 'feature'.

I added this to the description when I first noticed the bug awhile ago.




The SM-AT/AA submerged bug was similar to this one, however that bug has been fixed by the recent removal of the fire controller.

I wish I could beta test, but im guessing that you've already got enough people and that I haven't been here long enough or contributed enough...

Progress update everyone.

Beta testing is coming along nicely. A lot of bugs have been found, many new features have been added, and things are going very smoothly.

Here are some pictures of the latest material:

1. A nice n' bloody X-83 A1 kill shot. The X-83 has replaced the older X-82 of the other shots.
2. A direct SM-AT/AA shot. There was nothing left of the unfortunate target.
3. The BFG in overcharge mode. One more shot and KABOOM.
4. The aftermath of a SM-AT/AA suicide. Note that the pickup is no longer dropped.

How many did you take out with the suicide? I'm guessing 3 to 4

Have you tested out suiciding with SM-AT/AA and godmode?

The SMAT suicide is pretty nice in VCTF-Suspense2k4.

Alright peoples, it is now officially the aforementioned decision time!

Despite our best efforts, the X-83 turret has not gotten completed. While it is ingame and fun to use, it has many bugs and is virtually unusable online.

Now I have a poll for you guys. Would you guys like me to:

A ) Ditch the turret and release as soon as possible.
or
B ) Continue working on the turret and making general bugfixes, but release at a later date.

I prefer to wait.

I'll wait, too. All my suggestions were to promote mounting the weapon for maximum efficiency.

Besides, the red night-vision tracking scope while mounted is pure bad-ass!

Plus, WangTang still needs to work on those animations.
