I dislike Windows mainly because (specially after using Macs for a year it really shows) it becomes a pain to do ANYTHING (don't take that like an insult or something). Windows I find is only widely used because it is the primary business platform to do any work on, and because of that, everyone else gets forced into that corner. If all games could be played on a Mac (launch at same time, etc) I would buy the Mac. Yes i would lose a programs like Xifre and the SpyWare software (I wouldn't need it HA!), but having a STABLE platform where you don't need to worry about if it will start up or if it might crash (blue screen you if you press something wrong) is comforting to me.

I only bought a PC (honestly) due to me being a gamer, and my MacBook Pro is for College/ University. Its really hard to explain why I'd rather spend more money and buy the Mac than the PC, simply put; ease of use and peace of mind. Hell, look at how it updates, its just 1 program that you open up, and it displays ALL applications and programs that need updating and you update and with one restart your done (which it does itself).

Yes Macs (even in the lasts weeks with my old MacBook i encountered problems, but i eventually fixed them (quite easily actually)) are different, and hell, with my MacBook i didn't know much about it or how to use it, but like anything, the more you use it, the more it'll become easier.

I look at Keynote presentations or just random new updates from Microsoft and Apple. With MS I find they are just releasing updates or service packs that fix the hundreds of thousands of bugs within Windows. Just look at CES2009, promoting Windows 7 (okay that was alright and cool) and an update to Windows Live Messenger (A Program which i still have problems with in the new beta versions ). Whoopdedo. I turn to Apple and see a smart and forward looking company, the new MacBooks/Pros and iMacs and their environmental friendly design (count me in on that), wonderful new hardware that is constantly updated/improved (aka iPod) and a OS that keeps getting more and more fun to use and its only with games that Apple really falters, but even then.

I love my MacBook Pro simply because it works, and it does everything amazingly well. Yes it may have costed me $800 dollars more than what i could get from Asus or Dell but honestly, when i have to deal with problems and tons of useless software added (Dell for example) with my computer, i don't want that. As i already said plenty of times, i chose a Mac because it works flawlessly.

Now that is what I call detail, well done.

The entire text just shows how different experiences people can have. The only problems I have ever had on my computer for the last 2.5 years are related to 3rd party software, and therefore not on the hands of the OS.

But you should be careful when you say that something works flawlessly, a software package as big and complex as operating systems; whether it is Windows, Mac OS X or Linux; are NEVER flawless. I may never have experienced any trouble with XP, but that doesn't mean there are none lurking in the shadows. Hell, 3rd party software alone can work like bug-magnets.

But there is one thing that I hate with disgust about WinXP and Vista, command-line doesn't do unicode. I don't know what the reason is but one would think that Microsoft had the brains to implement it considering how many different languages exist with their unique set of letters. For example, I'm unable to make encoding batch scripts for Icelandic music, and have to do things manually every single time I want to encode. And believe me, that ain't fun with a big collection and frequent encoder updates.

Other things I could live without are mandatory programs I never use. Thankfully Win7 will take a step in the right direction there and make some of them optional.

But hey, I'm glad that you found your OS buddy. I bet you get the same feeling as I do when I boot up my computer: The OS loads, desktop appears, start-up apps are launched (Fraps, F@H clients, etc.), and from there everything just works. I fire up XMPlay to listen to music and then go browsing on the internet to see the latest in news, RS forum, and so on. This is a feeling that never gets old.

As a side-note, I'm still interested to see how well Macs perform with the Folding @ Home project. I tried looking for benchmarks all over the net with no success. I get VERY flexible PPD numbers these days, yesterday it was 920 with two very valuable work units, but now I got older and rusty units that total 220 PPD. . .

This is the first time I saw a Mac user that said no bullcrap about Windows,and didn't annoy Windows users.

I'm getting sick of every Mac users that won't stop saying Mac is the best,Mac is better than Windows,it has no viruses,it has cool games,etc,etc,etc.

Honestly,I think the argument the Mac users are making is 100% senseless. You know why,read the second paragraph.

Seriously,why whine even if they're both good? Windows is apparently good for image/video editing,and way better at gaming. But Mac is really great at image/video editing than Windows,thought it doesn't have any good gaming. (Unless you use that Windows simulator tool for Mac,don't know how it is called.)

It boils down to personal preference as well as what you will be doing with the computer, as has been said many times already.

And it is not just some Mac users that praise the preferred platform like it is holy, some Windows users do that too just as much. And the same applies to AMD & Intel fanatics, AMD/ATi and nVidia ones, and pretty much any hardware or software that has a rival(s).

Yep, as Bjossi put it, it all comes down to your personal preference.

I think it's just certain types of people who do all this brainless praising and fanboy-like arguments. It doesn't matter if it's about Mac, Win PC, Linux, Obama, McCain, abortion -- anything. Just certain people say to themselves, "I bought (into) this, so I'll be dead before I let someone say it's not the best thing since string cheese."
