Well, there's reason you haven't heard from them much, they're hard at work and don't have the time to post!

Trust me, they got a lotta stuff done. Can't say I know when The Crucible will be in beta stages, but I have a feeling it won't take years or anything like that.

It will be more Co-op or more Versus? or both?

Considering the number of developers and the scope of the project, I think years is actually pretty spot-on.
Then again I don't know any details so I'm judging the book by its cover, more or less.

Whenever I see modern/futuristic things mixed with medieval-ness I am somehow reminded of W40k... Then again I am overshooting there.

Too bad my poor excuse for a computer will not be able to run this, let alone UT3. I can strangely run Fallout 3 pretty well though, so I guess I'll actually to save up and get an actual copy to see if I can actually try this out.

Is it just me? Or does it remind you of a book called "The Crucible" By Arthur Miller?

Unreal 2.. Yeah i don't think it will be that bad.. But it will be BAAADD in a kick ass way..

Now don't you worry in the end (hopefully not long from now) you will have an action packed game with the most awesome melee combat ever imagined, and the most brutal gameplay ever that will keep you playing till you get a brain tumor(We will not take any responsiblity for this however..)..

What aspects do you need help with? I might know some people who are suitable to the job(s).

I've played much worse games than that, like Bioshock and Red Ocean.

Bioshock wasn't all that bad....

Back to the Crucible, I do hope RS keeps most of the old weapons and things. That re-done SRS was really sick.

The promotion picture is making me think that the Crucible will have rune-pickups or something similar to that which gives you special abilities and things- like ChaosUT.

Something I hope for is some serious differences between sides. As an example:

Humans are all-tech, and use a vehicle system. Much like BW functions now.

Heavenly beings are pretty much all magic and miracles, with special units you can spawn as at times that replace vehicles. Base is a BW like system, but with different styles of weaponry & functions.

Hell is a mix, with infernal weapons and horrifying war engines, along with some special units you can spawn as that don't count as vehicles.

We have your average human force that functions much like typical UT play, angelic beings which require some more finesse & tactics, and then hellish Daemons who are pure brute force & power at the cost of versatility.

To be fair, those two subjects are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

I think it will be interesting to see where they take this, after all, the only thing we have is a picture of a skull, a graveyard, fire and a brief description, can't wait to see how this unfolds and I hope they are succesful!

Well, since it is a "war" featuring heaven, hell, and humanity, I think it won't be an experience similar to Unreal Tournament.

Heck, I think they might even slow the pace and change the game so that you actually need to think about your actions. Not just blind rushing like in UT. Always a free-for-all there.

I think it would be awesome if it took some properties from the Battlefield series, which, in my opinion, has done a pretty good job at influencing players to make team-oriented decisions.

It wouldn't make sense to me if I see angels running around with no definite plan and just trying to smite their way across the battlefield.

In fact, maybe kits, realistic inventories, and squad organization are the way to go. I'm not trying to force these ideas down Runestorm's gullet, but I think you guys will get kudos from lots of people if you put team-play over solo-play.

Realistic inventories so that one person can't be an anti-infantry AND anti-vehicle soldier, and will have to rely on his fellow teammates when he encounters something he can't handle well. Kits so that players always have something to fit their mood/style. Squad Organization, because I love feeling like my team actually has a plan.

If Runestorm can make a game that breaks the mold from the trigger-happy style of UT and go into something more team-oriented, that would be great in my books. Even if they don't, I still think the product will end up very good.

I'm curious if all races will fight against each other, or there will be some rules...
it would be wicked to see a demon boarding a tank and viciously killing the pilot(I love to punch someone in a tank in Halo 3. I LOVE it!).
I think that Humans could have more squad organized gameplay, the demons would be a swarm, using brute force(like Threadhead said) and the angels could be... I dunno perhaps they're few but powerful.

Taking that base issue further, I'd love to see flak towers, gatling guns, and even mortars and artillery cannons designed to defend the base or place supporting fire somewhere on the map.

Hell vehicles, awesome. Hell, I'd take having hellhounds for a steed anytime of day.

Also, that Battlefield influenced system would be pretty cool. It'd be nice to have to upgrade weapons every now and then. For example, taking that SRS that RS posted a few months back, it'd be nice to be able to go from having an insanely inaccurate and loud rifle to one where you have to upgrade bits and bobs such as the stock type, magazine/clip, bolt type, scope, silencer, etc. For example, score X amount of kills using the iron sights and get an upgrade to a reflex sight or ACOG, then if you get more and not get noticed, upgrade to the scope without silencer, then finally a silencer with an increased magazine capacity. There could be bullet upgrades too. But I dunno, I'll just wait...

but will it be a UT3 Total conversion and then it will become a full game?

we intend to do what we can in the MSU and take it through there and take it from there.

As for recruiting, i think we are the only guys in SA doing this kinda thing

Crucible will be high quality, and we will try and get quality, skilled people on our team. We're working on this now

anyway, this will be our main focus. We also intend to make it a broad platform for whatever we want later on, and for moddrs to add to easily.

and some more things to remember:

forget about BW. This is entirely new. You'll see as we go ahead

There are no vehicles planned for now.

It's more towards a multiplayer arena game, than an SP game with an MP slapped on. We'll be designing it so we can add-on anything we want.

Just remember,you can't always just add-in players.
