I have enforced a limit on everyone's PM inbox and outbox to 20 messages each.

Please can everyone clean out their PM's that are not needed....otherwise I will simply delete everyone's PM's!

At least let me keep my two , very important mesages... I still need the DM-TargetPratice map link in case I have to reboot UT2004.

You should have done like me and deleted obsolete messages on the fly, rather than letting them pile up.

A lot of them pertain to mod stuff and I check back on them from time to time. It's nice to get to go back and read the early messages, too.

times that by the 700 registered users here and you will understand why I'm moaning....

I've been trying to delete all my messages, but yeah, all mine are worthless to keep now.

Do you plan to delete all users who registered, never posted and never logged in again? It seems reasonable to get rid of those who are unlikely to return.

That is a good idea...but it will be much easier to do on the new system...so for now no...but will definitely be looked at...

This sucks! I have 700+ messages, dating back to 2006. I'm copying the most important ones, but most will be lost. Too bad they can't be DL'ed as a single file...

i think i only have 500 in my inbox and 500 or so in the out..

Is there no way to export them all from your end cyberax? I have alot dating back to when the site began.. It's good to keep records of this stuff i guess..

I got way to many.. their should be some select all feature than delete.

BTW, the limit for PM's in now set to 70 you can keep. If you are over this limit, you will not receive new PM's.

If people really have a need for more, then let me know and I will review the limit.

70 should be more than enough, any additional messages needed to be kept can be stored locally (on the member's hard drive that is).

PM's are not in a standard format.....like email messages for example....

Copy paste....

The PM's are NOT an emailing system...if you talk that much with some-one, email them!

vBulletin allows exporting (and mass-exporting) private messages in txt, xml and html formats, at least if the admin enables it.
If phpBB doesn't have anything similar then that is a big disadvantage for the members with hundreds of messages to clean up.

From BWC or RS ? There was a problem with BWC's ones...all of RS's came accross...

mmm...ok, well I am investigating ways of exporting etc. If I come right with that (which I doubt), I will export them out of the old site backups for you...but no promises...
