MARS-2's got camouflage now, the SKAS tri-barrel has been pimped out, there's a new tranq pistol, among other things.

While playing around in Photoshop earlier, I made some custom nickel plated XK2s. What do you guys think? Include or no?

I like the nickel plated XK2's. Maybe put a flashlight or a laser-pointer on them?

Edit: Come to think of it, the XK2 stocks arent retractable right?

Is it possible to include as a rare variant of the usual, like a few guns in the pack? Not sure if this can be drawn over to the base guns.

Otherwise, I'd say no, as I think the existing weapons require a little bit of more attention as for now. Could save it for later, though.

In previous beta a bug was found with the X-83 in multiplayer: When you mount the gun it does not shoot point of aim, but instead shoots low and left by 45 degrees; if you adjust far enough right to correct for the point of impact it will start doing the same thing but low and right instead. This occurs when mounted regardless of whether you zoom in via scope or fire mounted with no scope.

Bots, at least in multiplayer, seem able to kill themselves when using the Super Skrith Rifle's "Plasma Ball" firemode. It appears they self-damage when firing on the move witht he round suddenly appearing and impacting against them.

Like the nickel plating on the XK2, but what the gun really needs is slightly more sane chaos.

I don't recall seeing any other major bugs/craziness at the moment from previous beta. Like the new Laser Carbine, though double shot feels redundant due to the high recoil it generates vs the high rate of fire and accuracy of primary fire.

The Dragon's Tooth Nano Blade is awesome, one-hit kill on a stab most of the time, easily my favorite melee weapon.

Sorry about double post, Kelly check your new beta pack out. It looks like you filled it with out-of-date material (most of the things mentioned in your post are gone as well as several weapons added in the last beta, like the grenade launcher).

The textures do not appear to be in the pack for the camo on the MARS-2, either.

I was playing around with the MARS-2 yesterday and for most of the time I got the standard black one, but one of the games I got the camo MARS (it also makes a slightly different sound which is similar to that semi auto battle rifle who's name escapes me at the moment ). I think it's supposed to be a special version of the weapon that will not appear as often, but when you get it you'll cream yourself, kinda

I use loadout and could not get the camo version, despite having the only option available for the rifle ticked on in both the Primary and Secondary slots.

Yeah I pretty much only play loadout too, the camo MARS will eventually pop up, its just kinda random which one you'll get. Here's a screenshot i just took of it

My favorite loadout is a Mars-2 Rifle/ M33 LMG + an SRS Mod-2 Battle Rifle. Although, I do find the Mars-2 rifle to be really accurate, it is still fun to shoot. I like it mostly for its truly beefy sound. Finally, a gun that has as big a bark as its bite.

Yeah man, gotta love the MARS, 3rd burst on that thing is freakin awesome!

Just a heads up: If the file extension is a .zip then the mod won't contain the prototypes, though if it is a .rar there will be all sorts of crazy guns! This version is the .rar version and comes with a brand new directed energy CYLO I cooked up yesterday.

@Corsair: Those are good observations! Unfortunately I have no idea how to fix the X83's numerous mounting bugs. I almost removed that feature from the last beta due to all its problems.

And those silly bots just love to suicide. Some of them seem to think a BFG is a good choice for close range combat.

Hell yes, Sarge's weapons generally have excellent sound effects, easily beat the default BW weapons (The shotguns are just... embarrassing to listen to, sorry RS.).

The "stealth pistol" never appeared as a weapon I could enable.

I'm sorry to hear that the mount ability for the X-83 has gone away, though with it as buggy as it was, it's not a net loss for multiplayer.

I'll continue to test these weapons as you put them up, and kick my brother now and then so we can test your guns in multiplayer. We just keep looking forward to more awesome updates, Sarge. Been a fan of yours for a good bit now.

Hey Corsair, have you checked the "Sniper" section in the Loadout options for the Stealth Pistol? I couldn't find it right away, but sure enough, there's a sniper pistol!

thanks for your Weapon Pack Update - im behind this since version 8.

I wanna also contribute to this pack, like many others here.
But not, in form of "OMG AWSOME 11Eleven" - yes it is , i wanna contribute with little critic.
I don't wanna offend anyone, hope you see it as advantage and chance to make the product little better.

I think, this package consumed already many free time hours of all ppl who work on the models, creating the textures, editing the sound, thinking abt the code and compiling everything to a working package, as to waste all the energy, because this - wasting of potential and free time - happened already in my mind.

Many has been produced, but less is finished and really usable.

Why not working out the existing weapons before creating masses of new, and blowing up the whole package ?
Thought the following things could maybe changed, before you add new stuff, even if its is a beta, some milestones take the ppl on the track and let them follow up excited, as to disappoint them, with new undone stuff as there is already unfinished stuff.

I wont stay with this words alone here.
As i said, ill criticize a little; every critic should - if possible - contain little ideas of changes.

As i and others in this thread out of the "AWSOME 11eleven!!!!" mentality already mentioned, it would it be great if some stuff get on the track, get fixed or just added later.

In my mind the following changes:

- almost finished weapons should have a symbol already, to determine them as playable and bring them into real onlien battles (thought, its quite contra in a shooter like UT, to be confused with 3 weapons with the same symbol)

- release the finished stated weapons in an own package, and push after your new weapons or beta releases in an own package. For every 5 Kb change, the ppl have to download over 60 MB. This update strategy would also make it easier for you, not to up all the time 60 or more mb and zip around 150 mb already. I never understood why you tormented yourself with this Sgt Kelly.

- Pls don't make promises of things, which cant be reached in the next half year. I know, its really hard to plan things, especially if more ppl contribute, and it depends on each other, also surely, the real life adds up and further its not your responsibility of creating stuff for free and spending your energy, money and free time for it. But, try to see the things more realistic and base your promises on that.

Im a big fan of the stuff you created here for free, and also the quality impressed me.
Since i work as Software developer and IT-Consultant i know how to measure such things like this already, and whats happening here is great. Big lob from my side, keep it on, but stay on the track also.

Im with this and other packages for long already, and follow up on the forums, every new entry and update.
But after years, it started to piss me off little bit.
I just feel fooled. Fooled by statements which promises updates very soon, and let you believe something is storming already.
When i see this great work done already, like the little Weapon Pack of Fische11 and Jack Carver or the Melee Package of Captain Xavious im really excited to see future works of you guys.
But what happened to the future of all this packages ? Fische 11 and Jack Carver promised so many things already, next week, next week i have somethign for you. "Next week" - thought one Year later, still nothing there.
What remains are spammed "ROLFMAO OMG 111eleven!! i got orgasm by seeing the green tracers youv created" forum threads.
Dont get me wrong, when someone deserved lob and praise, then you guys, but whats going on here is already contra productive and wont help in any way to improve your stuff, as the current result are my proofs.

Critical Post will get flamed or just overdrawn by 30 other post of the type i mentioned above already.

I hope you guys here are matured enough to keep this as a bump, to keep the thread here a little clean by spamposts and helping Kelly and other modders to improve theire modifications, as to to be offended by this words.

Here some things i figured out with the weapons, which are half modeled / textured or fully working already.

- The AH-104 has still a hole in the the mesh, very obvious on bright maps or background.
- The AH-208 has some glitches with the fire speed/fire rate, not working always correctly (the shoot intervals are very often to short, like you're shooting almost two at the same time)
- The Couch gun has the same problem, sometimes, the double barrel shoot is not working, it shoot just fast one barrel after another.
- Same with Sawn-off couchgun
- The SPAS is not part of your Pack, but you said once, you wanna update it soon -> Primary fire mode don't have any animation, such as missing recoil.
- P90, also not yours but -> Its Rifle butt appear not to be "filled", which means, you look through the mesh
- The AK 490 haven't a texture yet ?
- Cylo MK1/2 -> Same firing issue like above
- Battle Rifle -> Declared as Sniper(original one is declared as Assault), Scope mesh is glowing when damage amplifier is used.
- Laser Carbine -> Missing Texture or finished already ?, Electric Explosion Effect causes hard flicker, like between every frame is an empty frame rendered. This effect sometimes stay even if you fixed the weapon, by cooling down (the flicker effect)
- X-83 A1 -> Mounting feature wasn't that buggy yet, the net channels still OK, just the find target feature is only available for the host, if dedicated server, no one is able to use it, since the host isn't play I don't understand why you pay attention on this, if it is quite well working for a beta, but there other bugs out, which should paid more attention if you cant fix this yet thought. For a beta OK.
- M99 - Not yours but same situation like SPAS or the others of Fische11's and Jack Carvers Pack. The Laser sight are buggy the first equip of the weapon. After a shot the laser sights stay toggled where they should point to, but on the first equip, they still moving around unsycnhed with the weapon barrel itself.

Well first things first, don't forget that this is a public beta release. All the content in here is WIP and not complete. Since this is going to be a long post, I will fill it with PICTURES.



The reason these guns don't get finished all at once is because they require the contributions of many people for completion. This is no longer just something I am creating, it is more of a team effort, and not everyone is available all the time.

We had the "One Weapon at a Time" mindset a while back but it didn't work out as planned. We got the Coach Gun and CYLO done but then jobs, school, and other endeavors took up time and made that approach impossible. If we were still developing in that style we would only have the SKAS, CYLO, MRDR, and NEX done. Most of the guns here are coded for fun, given some sounds or other things, and then much, much later get their models, animations and textures. You should check out my earlier posts for data on which weapons are waiting for which components.

The symbols are only created once the weapons are fully textured. And due to UV and model issues most of the guns are not at that state. The symbols are usually the last things to get created for these guns. As this is the developer beta this is of low concern to me. Those come later in the actual release.



Release dates don't mean anything here, sadly. I am currently working on Valve Time and take month long breaks when I please. As you guys know, we're making this for fun and enjoyment. Perfection comes later.

As for the 4shared link, the mod is currently uncompressed and has a massive file size. The testers only download when they have high speed access and after large updates. I always keep the link updated for online testing and for their benefit, so that's not something that's really going to change. When the update is something as trivial as 5KB I may just personally message out the smaller components, but that is not nearly as easy as just clicking a single non-changing link for the latest content.



For the bugs:
- The AH-104 has still a hole in the the mesh, very obvious on bright maps or background.

== I'm not sure what you mean. All weapons (CYLO UAW excluded) have a fixed fire rate and will fire at that rate.

== The coach gun doesn't shoot both at the same time. That is impossible for a real-life coach gun. This one's not a bug, but if the delay is big it might be lag on your end.

- Same with Sawn-off couchgun

== Texture is not done yet. The flicker is not done yet and the cooling down issue is a bug. LS14 rocket reload and CYLO SG reload have the same bug if the animation is canceled due to the way code notifies work.

== This gun is extremely buggy online. It doesn't even shoot straight. It doesn't even shoot straight in Instant Action if you look closely. This gun was supposed to be perfected in the last install. I haven't really touched it since then though.

If you say both barrels can't be fired simultaneously, then why does the sawn-off fires both barrels at once?

In addition to being sawed off, the shorty coach gun had its fire assembly modified to using dual triggers instead of the normal fire group found on the regular coach gun.

EDIT: Found the Stealth Pistol, last night, just didn't get around to posting about it. At first blush it looks like its going to replace the RS8 as my sneaky sidearm of choice, though putting it in the sniper rifles section is a bit odd.

Also finally saw the camo version of the MARS-2, was really thrown off by the whole randomized camo bit. Otherwise, it's working fine.

Question: Is the AIM-20 supposed to be as monstrously effective as it it? 'Cause I gotta admit, I love how much ass it kicks.

The MDR machine pistol makes a respectable and accurate sidearm one handed and thoroughly lives up to its name when dual wielded.

I admit, I'm still a little sketchy on the effectiveness of the double-shot mode for the Las Carbine, but other than that it seems to work out ok. I get the feeling you're trying to make it not a pretty-beams sniper rifle. Lovin' how good it is from the hip in single fire.

Still have to play around with the weapons, so I dunno when I'll have more to say, aside from keep up the good work.

Oh yeah, still in the process of teaching myself Blender, so it's gonna be a bit before the M50A4 comes about. Just don't think I've forgotten about it.
