First Impression:

This game is a 10-day-dev-time alpha. And it plays like a twelve month beta from so-called AAA dev teams. The game is simplistic(so far), but I'm sure more is planned to make this truly interesting. The mechanics of the game are fairly impressive, and the physics--once you get the hang of it--are pretty solid. Overall, an enjoyable experience!

Technical:

Mechanically, the game is solid so far. Other tools, special kinds of spills, or even special materials that require specific cleaning might make the game a bit more interesting, but I would not presume to guess what you all have planned.

I did notice one area that has texture 'glitching,' the ceiling of one of the side hallways. I'm sure that'll be a quick fix, assuming the team hasn't already fixed it at some point thus far. (This is alpha after all!)

Personal Opinions:

This game has a lot of potential. It could honestly work, as-is, with a few minor tweaks and some additional levels, but I also see the possibility for greatness here. With a 'proper' development cycle, I could see the addition of interactive consoles, more tools, new 'spills' to clean, and other special materials really adding depth to the game world. With that in mind, I humbly offer the following suggestions(assuming the team hasn't already thought of them!):

Better characterization would add a lot of depth to the game. Not necessarily of our fearless intrepid hygiene engineer, but his/her employers, the station personnel, and perhaps even some of the victims(through journal entries or recordings, and the like). If done with a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor, I could see this really making this title rise like a shooting star. Some minimal-effort voice acting would really make this work well, though basic text boxes could also make this happen if voice work isn't feasible.

A rewards and/or scoring system would really boost re-playability. Scores for not dropping anything, or maybe a 'bucket count' of some kind would add a bit of challenge. Perhaps keeping track of certain environmental changes the player can create might result in a write-up regardless of performance(i.e. inappropriate use of technical equipment, or some kind of penalty for spreading stains all over the map, etc, etc)? I don't know how much further development the team has in store for this title, however, so this may also not be feasible.

These are just a couple of quick ideas I had while mopping up our space station. More story elements would really help make this title stand out, in my opinion, though I'm sure the team already has some idea of where they want to take this project. I'm just happy to poke it now and then, and offer some opinions.

In closing, this looks like a really great little time waster, and I'll be looking forward to seeing it shape up more in the future.

Hi,

I dont have much time right now, but I wanted to get some stuff out, before I forget it.^^

The idea behind the game is plain awesome and as said by the other people has a lot of potential. There are 2 things I would really love in the next alpha: a broom and a shovel. The mop is already great fun to play with.

Im not sure on your plans regarding multi-player, I didn't have time to read all up on it, but there is even more potential in it. Tools which require two people come to mind, but throwing messy trash bins at friends who have just cleaned up a room sounds tempting enough.

Another thing that instantly came to my mind was a simple level-editor, where you place some room presets and fill them up with stuff to end up in a mess. Like some scientists, guards and monster. The result would be an infinite source of carnage to clean up.

The last idea I can remember was to get some kinds of carts to clean, maybe mobile versions of the dispensers as upgrades... I start to see RPG-elements to specialize in particular messes to clean. Like a longer mop or a bigger broom, but Im going over the top and should be sleeping anyways.

Short and simple: make a broom, add multiplayer and I will instantly preorder! Keep it up, great potential!

Thanks, glad you like it!

And yep, we certainly have big plans to develop this! :)

In time we will be regularly updating it with fixes, new features, and overall increases to the core aim of the game.

With any luck, we'll be able to make weekly updates! ;)

An in game level editor as you suggested was something I was thinking about too. Just have a handful of premade rooms/complexes, and either have an in game menu that lists different things to spawn into your hand/on floor in front of you for you to place, or even a simple pregame menu where you set up an example scenario (alien invasion, crazed space marine, science gone wrong, party gone wrong, etc) that gives you presets, or just check off items in a check list for different categories and various number configs to set up spread and density, stuff like that, that will let you play an entirely new scenario each time you start it up.

I think letting players be able to have randomized scenarios and/or user created scenarios would help to expand replayability and quite possibly build a stronger community that is sharing their scenarios with others.
