While cleaning out old software I'm not using any more, I noticed that the Santa's Rampage and Shadow Warrior spinoffs are listing two separate entries in Programs and Features for each game (So two for Santa's rampage and two for Shadow Warrior). I didn't want to uninstall them (I Love all things Viscera
) but having two items confounded me. One item had the UDK icon and listed two URLs - one to Steam, one to RuneStorm. The other had a "default" Windows icon and showed the RuneStorm URL twice.As a test, I started the uninstall process on the ones I thought were buggy, since I knew Steam would ask me to confirm the deletion and I would cancel it. It never got that far, however. I got a system error (with I code I unfortunately forgot to write down) to the effect that an error occurred and would I like to remove the item from Programs and Features. Which I did. I did this for both Santa's Rampage and Shadow Warrior, and now I only have a single entry for each in Programs and Settings. Both seem to work just fine, so I don't think I actually uninstalled anything at all, just killed some erroneous entries.
This is on a Windows 7 x64 machine, by the way. I suspect something in the installation process is creating duplicate registry entries for each of the Steam versions, one connected to Steam directly and one not. I don't know if this is an actual issue, as it didn't seem to impact anything either way, but it's something I wanted to report just the same.
