| Post subject: | A Physics Bug To NOT Fix. EVER. |
Allow me to tell you all a tale. The location is Cryogenesis. The furnace room is clean, as is the adjoining room with the laser buffer. I'm getting ready to start cleaning out the long hallway to the What-a-Load machine. I spawn a bit-bin, and then stand there tapping my blood-soaked toe as the machine disgorges THREE salvos of skinless limbs. Screw it, I'll pick them all up later. (spoilers - I don't) The machine then decides to cooperate and give me the second bin I need. And here's where the story gets interesting. I'm sure some of you, at the very least, are aware of the skinless forearm giblet's Satan-Cthulhu physics properties. If it gets to the bottom of the bit-bin, it's game over in the messiest possible way. Well, the second bit-bin is forced, due to my laziness, into the pool of pieces that was dropped moments before. The top-most piece being a forearm. The wrist joint drills into the bottom and sticks, and I only notice when the bin gets a mind of its own, wrenches itself from my grip, and collides with the first bin hard enough to send it flying across the room. Grand, a rabid bit-bin. Just what I need. The bin landed on its side, so I can now see the offending appendage sticking out of the bottom. Looks kinda crude, if you ask me. I take hold of the elbow and start jostling it around, attempting to free it for immediate incineration. I only succeed in getting it stuck in the side, instead of the bottom. Then I jump on top for leverage, and that's when the magic happens. I pull up, and the whole mess responds like a flying carpet, gently lifting up and moving forward. Panicking slightly, I look back down, and it slows to a stop. Now capable of coherent thought, I look left, and float gently to the left. I look further left, and I speed up and collide with a wall. I'm knocked off the flying bit-bin, but the wrist miraculously remains stuck in the bin. I move it to the furnace room for more flying space and practice for a while until another collision shakes the forearm loose and the magic is lost. As much trouble as the skinless forearm piece can be, please, please, PLEASE never fix it. Fixing it will destroy one of the best bugs I have ever seen in a game. |
