Post subject:  "Built With UDK has stopped working"

I've gone through the checklist of things that have already been suggested; verifying the cache on steam, running the .exe manually without steam being open, running it as adminstrator, opening it in windowed mode, checking and updating my graphics card drivers, running the UE3Redist, all of that. There are no logs in the launch.txt file but every time it opens and immediately stops working, it adds another .dmp file to the logs folder. The only thing I could think of being different from the last time I played the game is the newest update happened in the interim.

Did you try installing .NET 4.5? Could be that issue again.

Q: When I try launching the game on Steam, it starts, then closes a moment later. I don't even see any log files in the game folder, what is it doing?

This seems to be a problem with the Steam install not always installing the required prerequisites. Try running the UE3Redist.exe file under the game's "Binaries\Redist\" folder.

If that doesn't work, try manually installing .Net 4.5 from the Microsoft website: Microsoft .NET framework 4.5

Yes, I had tried installing .NET 4.5 before I posted here. I downloaded it and was informed my OS already had it installed. I went into the options and ticked all the boxes to enable everything and it still refused to work. I don't mean to sound rude but when I said I went through the checklist of recommended fixes and tried them all, I actually did go through them and try them all.

Post subject:  Re: "Built With UDK has stopped working"

I just wasn't sure which check list, some of the FAQ pages were recently updated, and didn't have certainly solutions prior.

What OS are you running? Have you tried disabling your Anti-Virus?

This problem is very difficult to pin down, and could be caused by a number of things. I am particularly puzzled as to why the game would simply not launch after the last update, since this problem never really gets to the game launching part.

The only suggestions I can possibly give is to ensure your window/resolution settings are still set correctly for your system in the "UDKGame\Config\UDKEngine.ini" file. ResX, ResY, Fullscreen.

Hi, so I downloaded this game off Steam yesterday after seeing how fun it could be from my older brother who also has the game. I however after trying to install it was met with the UDK has stopped working error and I have tried everything on the forums so far. I do not want a refund I would really appreciate some assistance in solving the error for everything I have tried has had no success :( I'm willing to post all logs and anything to get the problem fixed!
Thank you

You say you've already tried most things? Right, must be some new horror. :?

Could you post the latest launch.log contents, should hopefully reveal something.

Could you please post the contents of your Launch.log file?

You'll find it in the game's install directory, under "UDKGame\Logs"

Post subject:  Re: "Built With UDK has stopped working"

Aye, this is a common graphics driver/card problem your computer could potentially have with the Unreal Engine:
Q: The game crashes on me(Built With UDK Has Stopped Working), often complaining of "Direct3DDevice->CreateVertexShader" gibberish in the log file, what do I do!!!?

Chances are you will need to update your video drivers, search for your video card manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for your card.

If that doesn't help, then try running the UE3Redist.exe file under the game's "Binaries\Redist\" folder and launching the game again.

Hmm, this doesn't sound promising:

How old is your card? I'm not very familiar with AMD's graphics card range.

Do you have trouble running any other Unreal Engine based games?
What's the highest tech game you can run?

Hmm, installing these might also help.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-za/download ... x?id=40784
Be sure to install the one appropriate for your system(32bit[x86], or 64bit).

If that doesn't work, try manually installing .Net 4.5 from the Microsoft website: Microsoft .NET framework 4.5
