My friend has setup a server using portforwarding and my other friends can join just by clicking the "join friends" tab in the lower right, however I cannot connect even using direct connect. I don't see any other threads where someone has this issue, and its kind of aggravating. Please explain what I could possibly doing wrong that only I cannot connect. [edit] Also, every time I try to connect, all I get back is a "cancelled connection attempt" |

Hmm, that's annoying. Is the connection slow / the distance great? Is that a factor, or have you played plenty of online games with them before? Most of the time Steam connections work. When that doesn't, then port forwarding should. Even so, for some unknown reason people sometimes cannot connect no matter what. There is some sort of strange issue between Steam and the Unreal Engine we can't get to but the looks of it. The only other possible cure(besides re-installing the game and the like) is getting the host and all the clients to "disable" steam when running VCD. You can find more info on that, here. Steam Bypass Also consider trying Hamachi or Tungle, some people have had success with that. |
