Post subject:  VCD High spec computer playing at 5-10 FPS
Basically what it says on the can, im running an i7-6700k / 32GB ram / GTX 1080

spec wise i should be able to play like, just shy of a million instances of VCD before i get the performance im getting right now.

Regardless of whether i launch in 32 or 64 bit mode (im on 64-bit win10), just simply launching the game and getting to the main menu puts me to an eye watering 5-10 FPS and as a last resort im making a thread here in hopes that someone or even a dev can walk me through whatever i need to do to get this working again, its been this way for me for about a year with just this game in particular. Nothing ive done has remedied this issue for me.

Things i've tried (that i can remember)

  • Checking the UDK ini to see if UDKEngine.ini has bDisablePhysXHardwareSupport set as false
  • Checking in NVIDIA control panel to make sure that VCD is using the graphics card for graphical processing and not the CPU
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the game
  • Updating to the latest NVIDIA drivers
  • Crying

I just want to clean everything :cry:

Eeek, you've tried most things there. :-\

The only other one I can suggest is to run the game in Windows 7 Compatibility mode if possible.

Wonderful, this is the solution! I'm a little ashamed i hadn't tried this myself actually. The game works fine in 32 and 64 bit in both WIN7 and WIN8 compatibility mode. WIN10 must be screwing with things as usual.

Thanks for the swift reply friend! You've saved me hours and hours of potentially productive time that i can now pour into cleaning up for all eternity!
