Alrght, I've got in a bad fight with the flamer code. I said "whats your problem?", it said "SCREW YOU!", I cracked it in the head with a crowbar.
Now is your chance to change the future... I want suggestions for secondary fire. Currently it looks like we're going for an unignited spray, but I can't decide between splaying fuel continuously or shooting out a large amount in one big blast. Any ideas for flamer secondary? |

Why not have unignited oil for secondary and a fire blast for special?
I personally think a stronger and farther flame at the cost of higher ammo consumption would be nice, I haven't seen that in many games. |

I like the unignited spray idea... I'd like to set-up a trail of highly-flamable gas, trick opponents into stepping-in, and then go, "YIPPIE-KI-YAY, M*TH*RF**K*R!!!" on them.
For the special fire, the Flamer could throw a small gout of flame, just to ignite the gas-trail.

What about there are two ammo types, different flammable liquids. And secondary uses up the secondary ammo which burns the secondary ammo with higher-damage blue fire effects. But secondary ammo is more rare and burns a bit faster so spare it.

I would love to have a flame cough for a secondary or special. Meaning the abilty for the weapon to spit a small ball of flame that it can throw a longer distance that would splah when it hits an object. Would be good for hitting distant targets, clearing mine fields, and area deniel. If you have played Fps games for a while think of the old "Blood" Napalm launcher. However with a whole less bang on the receiving end. Man I did love the nalpalm launcher. |

But how would you explain the technology behind firing a fire-ball? Compress the flammable liquid/gas and then send it through the barrel and cook it in one piece? |

Hmm explain the tech? Air slug fires a small burning gout of feul, much like an air gun can fire a ball of air for one. But I go with nifty future tech for the awnser. The same future techone that makes the lighting gun arc outwards instead of using it's weilder as a handy way to get to ground.

I personally don't like the idea of a fireball, it sounds pretty arcade to me. But of course there are always ways to do it in a cooler and more unique way. |

NO NO NO OMG OMG OMG Guys! Have any of you played C&C Generals? You know the Air Fuel bomb???!?!?!? OMFG I LOVE THAT THING SO MUCH OMFG I've actually thought about it as being the perfect "peace" weapon - what it does is it sprays a huge mist of unignited fuel. Then, the SECOND somebody shoots ANY kind of projectile - the whole thing goes KAA-F**KING-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
So yeah. Unignited fuel all the way. |

Doesn't sound that good to me, how in the world would that work in a fast paced 1st person shooter? |

For the special fire, the Flamer could throw a small gout of flame, just to ignite the gas-trail. I like this idea. And the Alt-fire should be switchable from the Fire Mode key, changing it from a stream of fuel to a chargeable glob. |

Making the gas invisible would be even more fun and irritating at the same time in online games.

Few ideas here: 1 - make the secondary a kind of welding torch, which makes mincemeat of vehicles and deployables. Flamers in most games suffer as being only usable against infantry, which isn't much good if your opponent has a Goliath and delusions of Carmageddon 2 - Shamelessly ripped from above ideas and Postal 2...launch a napalm cannister which leaves a trailer of liquid to set alight. Having a firetrap is good, but in a fast paced game of BW, will leave you as shotgun fodder if you are too busy attempting to lay your trap. Could the cannisters stick to walls? Coupled with a detpack, this could mean death for the first intruder, and fiery pain for his buddies

To the guys that didn't know how my idea would work: Imagine spraying basically a burst of unignited fuel into the air. While in air, it would spread over a larger area. Then, provided your flamethrower's range is long enough, you can just ignite it by shooting at it. BOOM. Or you could just take another weapon and do it. I'm guessing missiles would work miracles like that. |

It would be pretty hard to launch a fuel canister from BW's flamer. The canister is mounted on the back. |

I have to vote for a continuous spray of unignited fuel. Think about it, you could set traps. Make a puddle on the ground and ignite it with a well placed gunshot. Create a ring of fire around you. Maybe even a trail of fuel that leads to a puddle where there are explosives set. MASSIVE BOOM! I wonder, can you code it so you can spray fuel in water and set the surface on fire? As for the special option, I agree with D Ein's Idea. It will switch the unignited fuel from a stream to a mist. Someone fires a weapon in it and... WOOSH! Up in smoke

OKAY~!!! This thread has really inspired me! Time to mix some of your ideas together!!! It's time for another edition of my CRAZY WEAPON IDEAS!!! Primary Fire: Your standard jet of flames. Very hot, very painful. Users also have to be careful not to move around too much, lest they catch their own fire. Ammo Capacity: Well... I think RS has already decided on this... so... Fire Modes: Let's you switch between THREE ammo-types... 1) This is your normal fuel. Normal damage and normal "scorch damage" (how the flames stick to a player even after moving away from the source). 2) This is your ultra-powerful Black Napalm fuel. This has the highest damage, but the lowest "scorch damage" since it dissipates quickly in the air. It also consumes ammo the fastest, so it must be conserved and used only when necessary. 3) This is your tactical flamable gel. This has the lowest damage, but the highest "scorch damage" since it's gel-based, it sticks to opponents the longest. Secondary Fire: Sprays the unignited fuel. This can be used to set traps and/or douse your opponents in highly-flamable gas, disabling them from using any weapon that might ignite the fuel. This also depends on the ammo-type the user is currently using: 1) Your normal fuel spray. Semi-invisible and doesn't dissipate too quickly, so it's easy to set traps with it. 2) Sprays Black Napalm fuel. It's more visible than the normal fuel and dissipates in the air the quickest, so it must be ignited quickly. 3) Fires globs of flamable gel unto the environment. Unlike the others, this doesn't stay air-borne and sticks around like the Bio-Rifle goop. It also sticks around for the longest but it's the most visible of all ammo-types, so it takes a real genius to make very effective traps with it. SPECIAL FIRE: This turns the flamer into a really-powerful Blowtorch, capable of dealing extensive damage to vehicles and people alike, but it must be used at close range. This uses the Flamer's igniter, so it doesn't use any ammo, but it has to be recharged from time to time. COMBINATION FIRE: Pressing the Secondary Fire while holding down the SPECIAL FIRE makes the Flamer fire a small gout of flame, which flies forward a reasonable range (like a fireball) before dissipating in the air. This can be used to ignite the unignited gas traps or deal direct damage to enemies (HADOUKEN! hehe). This also depends on the ammo-type in use: 1) Normal fireball. Normal range, decent damage. 2) Black Napalm fireball. Short range, tremendous damage. 3) Blob-like fireball. Flies in an arc. Stays around for a long time, but has weak damage. So... Whacha thunk it? |

Actually, this flamethrower behaves like a gas flamer, not a liquid/gel one, so firing a stream of the stuff makes no sense. I vote Fuel Air Explosives aka Thermobaric weapon. Edit: Daisanji hit this thing right on the head. I love it! |

my idea of unignited fule (a spray) is realisticly posible (a flamethrower fires a flameable liquid into a flame that ignites it as it goes past preduceing a flame this would just turn of the flame) for a flame thrower |

Jees, that's a mouthful... but all pretty good suggestions. Personally, I like my idea of the fuel air bomb (or thermobaric, as Carsomyr put it). Like that one place in ONS-Torlan, under the comm tower. You see a manta or a scorp coming at you, you shoot the mist right under the tower, then as the scorp's passing through, shoot again (this time flame). ...

Alright you Maggots! (oh, sorry... not again...) Looks like it's gonna have unignited fuel. And probably the continuously sprayed kind so we can make fire trails 'n s**t. This is going to be the toughest weapon ever to make and it might run sloower than most, but, we'll just have to get there... |

Shrug. Looks like DC decided not to go with the whole overblown tons-of-features though up by daisanji, so it's not like it made that much of a diference. Anyhow, I'd still rather wait longer for more awesomeness than have something less-awesome sooner. But I trust DC's judgement, I'm sure it'll turn out as cool as possible. |

There are more than one way to make things fun ya know. Why type 2+0+3+1+0+0+0+5=11 when you can simply type 11+0 and get the same awesome resault? This idea would be cool indeed, I just can't imagine it being even possible to code with UE2.5. |
