I think a chainsaw should use ammo, it needs to burn something to keep that blade spinning.

We could have the Chainsaw be rigged up to work with an A42 battery, so that while it will eventually run out of ammo, you won't have to run around looking for more.

We dont have any crossbows however. Out of the 6 ideas, this is the one I like the sound of most

Just to add to that: how about making special fire load up an additional crossbow bolt. So you can fire multiple shots.

You double the damage but sacrafice accuracy and projectile speed. Any ideas?

Increasing the amount of bolts won't necessarily be multiplying damage. Since you're applying the same amount of force to more projectiles, you'd end up with a spread of arrows doing moving at a proportionally slower speed, and thus do proportionally less impact damage. You'd be wasting a whole bunch of ammo to increase your chances of a hit that does less damage.

This would only apply for your run-of-the-mill arrowhead, however. A syringe for an arrowhead, using the force of the arrow to inject deadly toxins into the target's body would be neat, and . Or a Tazer-tipped arrow that shocks the target and slows their movement for a second for each successful hit. Or even explosive incendiary arrows whose fuses are determined by the force of the impact. One arrow shot detonates instantly, while a spread of arrows take three seconds or so to explode after impact. The explosions themselves would be like a weak FP7 grenade. Sets you on fire, but only spreads out to two feet.

The holding the primary fire could charge up the tension of the bow for more power, though it auto-releases 3 seconds after full charge for safety reasons. The secondary would simply be used to add arrows, up to a limit of 5 or 6.

If we end up with a multi-ammo system for this weapon, you could even load up multiple ammo types for an interesting cocktail. Load up a couple of shocker and some incendiary arrows to hold the target in place while the incendiaries' fuses go down, forcing them to sit still for the resulting fiery blazes.

I still find the coolest Crossbow idea was that one about it being a Skrith/ Cryon hybrid weapon that was living with living ammunition which could track or latch on and detonate after a time.
