The idea is that you can loose a leg or arm, but ur still alive!
I see people with few lives loosing limbs faster than healthy persons, so the chance of losing a leg or arm depends on your health.
When you loose a arm, you can only carry around one handed guns without dual weapons.
When you loose a leg, you crawl on the floor, slowly.
To heal urself, get a medpack (not the small ones, at least 25 health healthpacks).

Also an option to activate and deactivate this.
I would love to see poor defenceless Brock crawling on the floor with one arm and no legs. As I place my shotgun against the back of his head. BAM haha headshot with shotgun xD

Yep, been mentioned before but i can say that this would be awesome, add to it to blood trails and blood emitters when the limb is gone (and the emitters say on for a LONG time) and this would be one of the best things to come to FPS.

And by heal yourself, i guess you mean that the limbs are recovered.

Reminds me of how in HL2 you can cut a headcrab zombie in half, and his upper half can still move by crawling your way. In BW, this would be amazingly awesome and fun as hell, would slow down the pace a bit for the limbless but oh well.

Though i think that low and medium caliber ballistic weapon shouldn't be able to knock off a limb, unless you hammer 1 spot repeatedly then i would knock it off. High powered weapons like sniper rifles, explosives, 50 cal Machine gun should be able to knock off the limb in a less hits than a low/ medium powered weapon. Melee weapons can cut them off quite easily. Energy weapons would be more or less between medium and high for limb knocking ability.

When the option is selected, each limb will have health to it, if you do lower the health of a limb and it goes to zero it flys off. But remember, weak weapons will sometimes not dislocate the limb from the user, since they are weak, like the Fifty 9.

Grenades and G5's would be the best and funniest weapons if this is made, since if guy has enough health but is close to the blast of a grenade, he'll loose almost everything of his, like legs, lower half of his body, or sometimes he'll loose the limbs on the left side (I've seen grenades do it). Machine guns would be funny too, cause you'll rain lead into the knee caps of your foes, making them fall to the ground.

I think for this we'd also need to have a blood spray when the character is hit, you know like in Half life 2 or CSS, when you shoot the guy you'll see blood puff/ cloud appear where you shot him and the blood will also appear on the walls/ ground. My reasoning for this would be that (as i wanted it before but no one understood what i was asking for) it would be an excellent indicator if you hit the guy or not, not saying that the blood splatters on the walls/ ground aren't good, they are good indicators but this would be better since we'd be able to tell even if the guy isn't near a wall.

I whole heartedly support these amazing feature for the next BW update/ content pack.

Sounds absolutley great, but wouldn't new animations be needed for the characters to make them crawl around, BW doesn't alter any animations does it?

EDIT: New idea, what would the swimming animations look like with no legs?

Nope, that is unnecessary. You gotta love the ability to make new anims and code them into a situation.

Uh, how did you not know? There is an Animations folder in the UT2 folder, and BW has plenty of reload anims.

Actually, he is partially right, Bjossi. To make animations for existing animation sets is not an easy process.

You need to add animations by creating a series of commands that tell the joints where to go at the right moments. While regular animation on the other hand just involves setting a joint where you want (in a 3d world) and taking more or less snapshots of each sequence of the animation. Much simpler process, which I'm sure you'll agree.

The weapons on the other hand, those were not altered animations, but rather new sets of animations.

But why would you want to edit already made sets? Isn't it easier to just make new ones and point the game to use those instead?

I'm no animator so cut me some slack if I'm talking bullshit.

Thats the thing. As far as pointing the engine to using new animations not included in the animation sets, well, you can't.

You could make an entirely new set from scratch and add in the needed animations, but if SB would do that he might as well make a new model, if you catch my drift.

I hope that this is added, whether its for the Ut2k4 version or the UT3 version, either way, it'd be really awesome and a totally new idea (more or less).

But about shooting off limbs. It would be shitloads of work, the devs would need to add features for every single combination of limbs. One right arm, two legs, one left arm & two legs, two arms and left leg, etc. etc.
And then code in how you walk or attack under each situation.

Just scale down the joints to 0, and it hides all verts associated with it.

Yeah, but what about the limb flying off in gib form and the emitters leaking from both limb and body where the limb was, and the blood trail? what about those.

It can be coded in, somehow, I think.
