Ive never used the jet pack mutator is it good in general or a chepo addition that doesn't make the gameplay better?

Not really, the current one out isn't that great. It's difficult to control, the only direction you'll be going is up. And once you release the Jetpack button, you'll be crash landing.

well thats what a jetpack does, not? Launch you up. Its a rocket attached to your back, what would you expect? Raptor style?

Well in my suggestion it is really manouvreable. You can look freely and dash with boosts dodging bullets and other hazards. It would be like a very controlled style of a jetpack but with limited time usage before it goes offline. The small disadvantage is to players who cant manage their jet fuel properly will be easy targets if they were too high. The jetpack would kind of go into hover mode and hover you slowly directly down towards the ground.

Also another thing could be make the camera go 3rd person while flying. Then you could also make the player slightly transparent for the player so you could see where to aim.

I liked this jet pack mutator....but yeah you´re right it isn´t as easy to control as it should be...but I think rocket boots....or ROCKET SKATES(yeah hell what a coll idea:D)would be great!...thats my oppinion...i don´t know tribes

I don't like the whole raptor-style flying. I like the jet from the flame thrower alot more... You can add dodging to that too

The fuel pack from the flame thrower does look like an awesome jet pack when someone got shot.

If there is one in the plan, just turn the fuel pack from the flame thrower to a jet pack. And to balance the game, the jet pack's fuel would explode after 2 or more shots. And yea, like Bulska said, "add dodging to that."

I'll like if it will work as the Jetpack V2 mutator, the only thing i didnt like about it is that he makes game lag to much.
It wont unbalance the game if it will allow you to fly only upwards to get on some high places and pass some clifs.
Make that its not allowed to carry with big weapons such as reail guns and miniguns.
And not like in mutator everyone start with them, make it as a pickup.

I can only emagine jet packs working like the UT99 jump boots (at least in BW anyway) without aggrevating a series of balance issues with certain people. Either that or it becomes a Raptor/Manta that you can strap on your back, in that case it would need to be treated as a vehicle.

Then again anyone who played RPG invasion knows how those boots'o'flight create a whole new range of tactics without giving players too much of an attack bonus, perhaps the jetpack could work like them? After all...It worked for Duke Nukem 3D

Jet packs also worked for the Tribes series.

Id say it should be similair to the bouncy jet pack in battlefront 2 not the long hovery one though.
