yeah but HL2 still has some awesome blood effects. Wish BW could replace the normal UT2k4 blood with the cool HL2 blood (of course they would make 3 kinds; Red, Green and black purple (for the robo dudes! )

Blood effects are just simple particles and textures, and projectors if you want wounds om models. Not very hard to do for a person that has the skill required.

Good one, Bjossi! Wounds on player models would increase the realism significantly, apart from being plain cool! I can vaguely remember a tread on the Atari forums where some guy had managed to project holes onto models, so it looked like a laser or plasma bolt had burned right through them. I don't think it worked 100% yet, but it can be done and that's what counts. The hole thing would of course be perfect for the Skrith guns, and maybe the railgun too (instead of gibbing). The Skrith rifle's death message actually says something like "player X burned a hole through player Y with the A-73", but currently there's no visible damage, which kinda bothers me tbh.

Together with improved gore features etc., wound projection could really lift the gaming experience to a new level, even on the aging 2k4 engine (image the possibilities in 2K7!) Hope this one gets a place on the list, high enough to be included in the next major release.

This has been discussed before, the RS team said it would be pretty tough, but I hope they will eventually achive it.

i was talking about just the blood splatters in HL2 but i guess what your talking about would be awesome too have.

The bloodsplatters in FEAR look much better, but that is just my opinion.

i don't have F.E.A.R so i can't give an opinion. You could however post a few (use imageshack) pics of the blood from F.E.A.R if you own the game.

Vista isn't too bad, DX10, better game performance (as long as you have a lot of memory) and of course it uses more GPU power than CPU which is a good thing.

The only bad thing is that DX10 isn't backwards compatible, which will make old games pretty uncompatible.

yeah but Vista will come with DirectX9 emulation stuff that or it can support it. I know this cause i read a week ago on the BU fourms, somebody posted a likn to a site that talked about the newest Vista beta and how well it proformed with games like CSS and WoW (of course), and they preformed well, so don't start saying that you can't play old directX9 games on Vista cause you can. Its one thing that Mircosoft is really hoping you do when you buy Vista.

It would be stupid otherwise, would kill the market for good. I said that DX10 is not backwards compatible, but the operating system is.

I meant that there will be no further support made by the scripters to make DX9 and older run with the new DX10 API. But of course it will run, there might however be trouble with older versions like DX6 and older.

anyway.. that item idea about attachements is good.. be hard to do at fist, but a nice idea.. i seem to remember saying that we used to have one, but it was flawed

and OT.. our gore is looking better now.. i changed the drag marks.. and i must say, they look sorta like how you would expect them to look in HL2.. then we'll do the other gore, like more bullet marks, headshots, explosion stuff, gibs and so on..

the one unplesant thing about the gore, is attaching projectors to players.. it's not very possible in this engine, so we wont be able to to holes in players

Nice to here some progress. too bad the bullet holes won't go in but thats more for show. still can't wait to see what 1.8 comes out with!

it sounds about right.. we will have to learn a bit about the engine at first, then doing normal and bump maps.. high detail stuff and all the rest..

The earlier, the more public the mod gets. We will be the center of attention to be the first UT2007 mod ever.
