My random idea for a new feature for the primary fire of the G5.

Press and hold primary fire to ingite the roket's engine without firing it. This starts a "charge-up bar" on the HUD that increases until you release primary fire, releasing the missile. The longer you hold the button, the faster the missile goes when you release it.

Possible second feature: Have the charge-up bar start full and decrease the longer you hold it, and if it runs out, the rocket explodes inside the gun, most likely killing you, and destroying the launcher. This could also maybe detonate all your rockets as a suicide feature. (I know someone areound here wanted a suicide feature. . .)

If the rocket explodes inside the gun, what about it gets destroyed so you won't able to equip it again?

I like that idea, it'd help in taking out ground troops. It's nearly impossible to hit things when not locked on.

I love the first idea a lot more than the second one, but don't get me wrong the second is just funny.

Well, yeah, it's funny. . .but you can't just have a rocket in there perpetually burning itself out with no end in sight. . .

well how about you mix the two together, namely if you hold it to long (talking about the first idea) than the rocket explodes... and you die... unless your hacking or have full health and armor... which i doubt.

The second idea was something IN ADDITION to the first, not seperate. So It looks like you like the second idea after all.

Well i like them both added together. which really makes it for one idea not two gets poeple (like me confused).

The 2nd idea seems to be an expanded version of the first, so of course you like it when they are put together.

Yeah purple rabbits? Rabbits only come in white and brown... and sometimes black with white or brown spots... or even white eith black or brown spots or brown rabbit with white and black spots... or just a totally white rabbit... but never has their ever been a rabbit with purple spots or just totally pruple. Which in the end as Bjossi said, makes the second line in your post impossible... unless you were talking about purple sheep

And speaking of rockets: when the G5 fires, flames shoot out the back end right? Maybe these should be slightly bigger / longer and damage people (and set their heads ablaze) if they're standing right behind the G5 when it fires. Could be fun in teamgames, especially with dumb bots.

Yeah smoke and a little flame shoots out when you fire a G5. Having that damage people would be. . .interesting. . .

Sorry if that came off as holier-than-thou, it certainly wasn't meant that way.

Anyhow, back on topic, another thing popped into my head. . .the "charged up" G5 rocket could be the anti-tank thing we've been looking for. It's rocket uses most of it's explosive charge to accelerate it to higher speeds so that it can panetrate armor, sacrificing area-of-effect damage for the ability to kill vehicles.

This could be implemented like the charging thing I suggested, or could be toggled with the "change firerate" key.

so the faster it goes, the less area of effect damage it deals out, but still keeps the same damage. I like it. then the G5 would be good for long range kills, also theirs no way in hell that the charged fire mode will have anything to do with the G5's Lock on.

By 'change firerate' key you mean the selectable weapons fire mode key.

More charged = faster, less explosive, more direct hit damage. And yeah, no guidance with charged mode.

well that would be cool, the devs wouldn't even need to make it use a key cause all you do is hold down.

Half random thought here... if say your charging the G5 for speed than you hold it too long (a charge bar will show this) than the rocket inside explodes, causng any other rockets to explode (which means at least 4 different vairitaions on this) and than causing the entire G5 to explode (new animation for this, including damaging debris from the G5 exploding.) ... damaging you (a lot ... maybe not totally death but enough to show you you've done something stupid).

Not just "interesting", but realistic and fun! It will increase chaos, and chaos is good because it helps you forget that the bots are really just a bunch of mindless, predictable programs. That's why I always play with at least 12 godlike bots, usually spread out over 4 teams. On a well-pathed medium map this means lots of chaotic, hardcore action.

I'm actually inclined to agree. And you could even have smoke/flame jetting out constantly as long as the rocket is charging.
