I have a idea !
- Use a shield (JunkWar or other) with Ballistic Weapons. So, with a hand gun we can shoot with it and stop enemy fire with the shield.
Good or not good ?

Hello,

Can you name a chemical that has enough resistance to stop bullets and is not too heavy even for both hands to carry?

All I know is that SWAT teams use shields to protect themselves, and while it may or may not stop a bullet, it is going to offer some protection from them. I think... |

Yeah, but I think it is pretty pointless since BW has armor pickups, I think a shield would just look silly with all the hi-tech weapons. |

Uh call it vitrum and it is scary future tech.
Resin bonded kevlar sheilds are now in use it swat/police units and in bomb squads. |

Actually, I was thinking of submitting an idea for shields myself, although instead of using a "riot shield" for any weapon, a "skirth energy shield" could be used exclusively with the Katana & the Skirth Blades (Or an entirely new weapon), and have it able to block off 2-5 bullets (Depending on type- Could fend off ~4 M50 rounds, but only 2 M925 shots before being broken through); sniper shots, rail shots, G5 rockets, etc would just go straight through it, as would other melee weapons (where blocking would come into play). It would make melee weapons a bit more useful outside of pure melee matches & stealth situations (Which tend to be few & far between in UT04 battles) |

shield.. long discussed.. my thoughts.. maybe.. BUT, it would be slow moving, only usable with 1-handed weapons, and have spikes on the front for ramming people into walls and such... wouldnt it be cool to see a dead guy attached to your shield as u run around 
maybe a mobile turret with shield in front.. like a machinegun or something.. maybe better as a seperate type of thing

No no no no NO!! If you want to make shields for BW, don't use ones that were invented by humans in the early ages. Put those in JunkWars and let them stay there, I like Finalizer's idea a lot better. |

An energy shield like the palladins shield that would be the most logical for the skirth. Maybe you could incorporate a "smash opponent" function but that would be probably to hard to make or so. |

We could also implement this is a powerup, like an energy shield belt. You pick it up and it will generate a powerful energy field around you but the energy in it only lasts for 20 seconds, and the energy deplets faster when you get shot. |

One word 'Nanotubes'. These will be pretty well developed by the Archon time period. A nanotube is like a thread and is extremely light and can be made into shields, armor, etc. I like the idea of a shield for use with handguns. As BW develops into our ultimate project, UT style armor will die a miserable death, replaced by archon armor. An energy shield could be another shield. Oh, I like that deploying idea. and the spikes are an obvious cool feature!

I think a Shield with a manual block opption that can withstand some small arms fire (IE pistols and ARs) but be torn up by larger arments (HMGS and explosives) I know how much of an issue it was in CS but LTIC there where no RPGS or GL in CS both would easyly bypass the shield |

Any kind of shielding implement would be a nice touch to BW... if it makes "shield-bashing" possible. |

Great... you caught me off guard... Well, how about a type of ceramic that would probably be used in the hulls of ships that pass through atmospheres. Make it angled to deflect plasma from spattering onto you, and make it grounded with some sort of high capacity capacitors hooked up to it to absorb heat and electrical energy that contacts it, and later either used to recharge weapons like the lightning gun or possibly it can discharge it onto something in a devastating lightning blast. Hows that for an on-the-spot concept? |
