I know there was a thread about this some time ago, but the functionality was never fully explained... So here are a few ideas for turning the Sprint Key into a Multi-Use "Action Key": -Of course, when a player is running, s/he can use the Action Key to sprint (it's the initial function, after all). -When a player is standing still or crouched while using a weapon that requires precision (sniper rifles), s/he can use the Action Key to hold his/her breath and steady his/her aim. -Players can also climb ledges just by jumping and pressing Action Key on the nearest ledge. -When falling from a very high ground (one which would likely sustain Fall Damage), the player can hold the Action Key during impact to do a PK Roll and soften his/her landing. -While a player is moving while crouched, s/he can use the Action Key to do a Stealth Stride. S/he holds his/her breath, thus making his/her footsteps lighter and more quiet. S/he also reduces the intake of dangerous chemicals (poison grenades) due to holding his/her breath. -The less stamina a player has, the more inaccurate s/he becomes. I'll add more features as I come up with them... |

does sound unique (unless something i dont have has them)
i kinda like the holding breath, mantling (ledge climbing), and rolling on fall

Those are pretty cool ideas. For the holding of breath, I think it should drain the stamina bar pretty quickly, maybe make your gun move aroud a bit when you release your breath, depending on how much stamina is left (less stamina = more inaccuracy) |

Yes... I was holding out on that one, since a lot of players might complain: -The less stamina a player has, the more inaccurate s/he becomes. I'll add that to the list. |

What would be the use of holding your breath? I can see the point in SP shooters, but a DM shooter... |

You know, I was thinking about this, and besides maybe sniping, it could be used if a poison grenade goes off near you and you could use it maybe to reduce some of the damage. |

Or all the damage, if the toxic substance isn't dangerous to flesh. |

Maybe, but then it might be a bit too powerful, and I don't think someone without a mask or anything can prevent all of it from entering his system. |

It won't damage you if you hold down your breath, but the bad sides of holding down the breath is that your stamina reduces, what about if you hold it long enough you will lose hearing and vision? |

I think that would be more fitting for players who are low on Health rather than Stamina. Black has that, plus the screen turns black and white and you could hear your heartbeat. As for holding your breath to avoid inhaling poisons and other dangerous gases, here's an integration of that idea: -While a player is moving while crouched, s/he can use the Action Key to do a Stealth Stride. S/he holds his/her breath, thus making his/her footsteps lighter and more quiet. S/he also reduces the intake of dangerous chemicals (poison grenades) due to holding his/her breath. Adding this to the list now... |

I like the idea of low stamina removing your vision/sight better than low health. Maybe something else could be incroperated for low health, like your screen goes red and it gets harder to see, or something. |

Realistically, low health would give you a hard time as well as low stamina. But wouldn't it be damn annoying since your health gets low all the time? |

wayr to annoying, but optional for those who want it. i think its best to leave the sprint key as it is maybe ledge climbing, but nothing more. |

Slower stamina regeneration would be pretty cool for low health, but it would get annoying in most instances. |

I wonder if they'll be able to aim at all if they pick up a minigun.

Well... you could improve the AI so that sorta thing wouldn't happen, can't ya...? Anyways... It just ain't much just to sprint and mantle with the action key... Flexibility is key here. TAKE NOTE: I've considered Stunt Dives and other Action Hero-type stunts for this, but I didn't add them 'coz I didn't want BW to turn into some crappy acrobatic stunt-fest. |

What if you held your breath too long, you could make it so the player has a loud coughing/choking fit? Or they could just pass out. |

well they did that in CoD2 which is where i think he got the idea, but the devs for CoD2 decided to make it so that after a certain amount of time you've held your breath you would then stop so you don't die. still think its stupid, cause the guns (the sniper) are really still when standing still. |

Does anyone have the willpower to hold your breath long enough to pass out? I just have to let go and breath after a few dozen seconds, I can't force myself to get to the point of being basicly unconcious.

ive never heard of anyone passing out by holding their breath like that unless it was on purpose |

it can be done, but after you pass out you start breathing agene because your no longer in control. so it will not kill the player just make them helpless for a time. |

I have tried it on purpose, my record is 1 minute and 14 seconds but that appearantly wasn't even close to be enough.

It would be foolish to hold the Action Key just make your character pass out, IMHO. Unless, of course, you use it to feign death, but you can do that without fainting... so... Once the stamina depletes, the character resumes breathing normally (or at a faster pace, to gain back all the stamina s/he lost). |

Well, I'm still not seeing how this is a good feature for a game like this. It'd work in SP games, and as far as I know, BW isn't one. |

These ideas would be nice if BW had a bit more realism but people just double jumb everywhere so I think it is a waste of time. I am not saying I am against realism, in fact I would like to see more of it in BW. Maybe they could make a realism mutator for those of us who do enjoy the more tactical style of gameplay. |

Nah, this is a DM mod, realism only works for SP. |
