I don't know whether it has been suggested or proposed yet.
What do you think of class systems
I mean classes with special ecuipment

Like
Sniper : all sniper rifles,....
Medic : XK 2 and likes of it,skrith sidearm,...
infiltrator :XK2 and small arms as well,....
Heavy weapons : Grenades ,G5 ,....
and some others
All those classes would have specific treats as well ( heavelly armoured, faster,....)

I know it seems a litlle strange to add them but maybe it could be used in some new ballistic gametype if they ever would create special gametypes.

someone just needs to make a customizeable class mutator for UT2004 IMO, doubt it would be too hard if you could code,.

This would be really sick...

You could have a predefined loadout for each class. Weapons are not dropped upon a player's death, because if other weapons could be picked up it defeats the purpose of the class system.

I'm thinking this is for Onslaught:

Assault class: Takes out powernodes and not much good for anything else. Moves relatively quickly
Primary: Skrith Rifle
Secondary: Assault Rifle
Sidearm: Skrith Sidearm
Grenade: Pineapples


Support: Used to protect the Assult class from vehicles and enemy fire. Moves almost but not quite as fast as infantry.
Primary: Lightning Gun: Keeps vehicles away from assault class
Secondary: M763 Shotgun: Used to take out spawning enemies at a powernode before they have time to attack assault.
Sidearm: Revolver or Assault Pistol
Grenade: Toxic Grenades (same purpose as secondary)


Heavy Wepons Guy, a la TFC :) This is just some dude that gets a hard-on when he sees a big gun.
Primary: M925 Machinegun or Minigun
Secondary: Flamethrower or RPG
Sidearm: Assault Pistol
Grenade: Incendiary Grenades


Defense Class: Defends powernodes
Primary: M353 Machinegun or Minigun (for infantry)
Secondary: Railgun or RPG (for vehicles)
Sidearm: Shotgun Sidearm or something automatic (for if there are enemies at or nearby the powernode when player spawns)
Grenade: Landminds


Sniper:
Primary: durr...the sniper rifle?
Secondary: Battle Rifle maybe?
Sidearm: submachinegun/machine pistol (needs to have automatic to compensate for the slow rate of fire for the primary)
Grenade: Pineapple


Medic: Heals infantry (is this actually of any use in ONS?)
Secondary: syringe for healing infantry
Grenade: Toxic


Mecanic: fixes vehicles
Secondary: Wrench for fixing vehicles

Spy: I like this one - Good for sabotage and limited recon. Has limited invisibility ;). He can be almost completely invisible but the cloaking device needs to be recharged after a while. I think what you could do with this dude is let him teleport to protected enemy powernodes (not unprotected, they must be behind the front lines so that they cannot attack the node they just teleport to). There should be a limit on how often they can teleport because otherwise they could just teleport to an enemy node, fire a few shots, and then return. They should be forced to stay awhile at the enemy node before being able to return. They cannot teleport to the enemy powercore.
Primary: M290 Shotgun for taking out stuff at enemy nodes. Using this makes the player temporarily visible for about 2 seconds.
Secondary: Activate/deactivate invisibility
Sidearm: XRS-10 Machine Pistol (Player remains invisible)
Grenade: Explosive Device

I think the most difficult part about coding it would be bot play. People have already done class based code, and the loadout feature already exists.

Pretty good. Though i think the assault class is more or less just a do mostly anything kind of class. they don't excel at anything, but are can do everything.

I think if you changed the Assault class to something like a Demolitionist class, maybe change the weapons to the G5 and something else, and slap on the FP9 instead of the pineapple and you're good.

Assault class should be more along the lines of a generic infantry class, with probably an assault rifle, shotgun, XK2, and pineapples.

A Skirmisher class might be cool too, where they are more or less like a dualist/scout; they have a faster movement speed, and start with no grenades, and any 2-gun combo of a D49, a Fifty-9, or an AM67 (with two of any one being an option too) and a melee weapon.

Got an idea for another class! (Its kind of like your typical Doom hero :D )

Berserker: Throw 'em out in the field to make the enemy jittery, powers through the front lines too
Primary: Chainsaw
Sidearm: Shotgun Pistol
Grenade: Napalm

Traits:
Slightly faster movement speed, can't wear armor, slightly higher damage reduction (or higher health), slightly faster attack rate, MUCH higher inaccuracy
Note: Skirmishers would be an ideal unit to take these brutes out with.

Skirmisher: Flashy, showy dualist, also works as a great scout
Primary: D49, AM67, or Fifty-9
Secondary: D49, AM67, or Fifty-9
Backup weapon: Non-powered melee weapon

Traits:
Significantly faster movement rate, light armor, reduced inaccuracy, agile

New Assault Troop: More of a generic infantry class
Primary: M50 Assault Rifle
Secondary: M763 Shotgun
Sidearm: XK2
Grenade: Napalm

Traits:
Medium armor

Demolitionist: Anti Vehicle, node, stationary object and heavy armored units
Primary: G5 RPG launcher
Secondary:Skrith rifle (or when Break Open Grenade Launcher comes out, that instead)
Sidearm: Skrith pistol
Grenade: FP9

Traits:
Slower movement, high armor, singed eyebrows, less than 10 fingers
