ChaosUT hacked quite a few animations into the existing UT2004 skeletons, so why not do it here? You could add grenade throwing, melee weapons swinging, etc. Not a whole lot of people use Non-Default skeleton models and its rare to find any models that don't use the default skeletons anyways... so I'm sure it would be safe. Skrith Blades could have the stabby stabby like in first person, the knife and katana can look like they are being swung, grenades can look like you are throwing them instead of them flying out of your hands, plastic explosives and mines look like you are placing them...

Etcetera, etcetera!!!

Well, I've built a small anim track system thingy for the 3rd person weapon attachments now. It's still got to go through some tweaking, testing and general enhancements, but maybe it'll be in the next release! :)

Sounds pretty nice, but isn´t it alittle too much work for what it is worth? This is such a fast paced game, I hadn´t even noticed that these throwing/swinging animations are missing.

Erika is right. chaos ut shows your weapons swingin around in 3d person. it would be neat to get a little animation in there ;)

I doubt many players play in 3rd person view...but if it´s not much work, perhaps it´s worth putting into BW.

As I mentioned in another thread, I think U4E's solution (haven''t tested it yet, but it sounds quite promising) would be more appropriate for Ballistic. It wouldn't require CUT-style 3rd person view play, which sucks ass imo, and would almost certainly be **a lot** less labor intensive to implement.

From the U4E forums, http://u4e.dangerous-minds.net/viewtopi ... 1ca0d4e968

"...For instance, *ALL* U4E weapons that needed special character animations now use them. When you shoot a bow, your character pulls the arrow back and shoots it. When you throw a grenade, your character will physically throw it. And when you go CRAZY with a Katana, your character will like wise go all Charlie Manson with the Katana. I think it adds alot to realism, and just plain COOLNESS! We'll be doing this with ALL future U4E weapons that need it. I was going to break my back to make all custom U4E player models do this, but we found a way to make ALL player models do that, or at least the ones that use the "Standard" skeletal bone names. It's SOOO Cool!"

They will implement this, don´t worry, we are talking about the developers of Ballistic Weapons.

What I admire about RuneStorm is the fact that they're perfecting the weapon systems and the physics of it all before the polishing elements like the third person animations. You know what I'm trying to say?

I mean, look at Unreal 4 Ever. They may have a bunch of kewl new animations and everything but GOD the mod's so glitchy I don't even want to play it most of the time. But as for Ballistic, OMFG I freaking <3 Ballistic even if they DONT have the animations some desire. Who cares? It's still a bad-ass mod.

Are they even working on the mod anymore?
Their forums is pretty slow moving (even slower than this one), and I haven´t seen the full version 5 in ages.

I wanted to try out their mod but no download until I see a full version, (almost) bug free.

This mod needs bugfixes too of course, I´ll name a few.
1) The melee attack of the shotgun seems to give hit sounds and effects even if you are hitting "air".

2) Bullet tracers seem to go through walls quite often, but I´m not sure if they damage me.

3) If you start to reload the shotguns, somehow I managed to switch to another weapon and I heard my character still putting shells into it, even when I was carrying a machinegun.

4) Log spam caused by the Railgun. I haven´t seen it in maps other than ONS ones.

5) Rockets tend to get sucked back at you if you fire while running.

6) Sometimes the bullet weapons gib you, especially when carrying the Damage Amplifier. That should be removed from all bullet weapons and the Railgun.

7) It is very common that there are wrong ammo pickups for the guns. I somehow got M900 ammo & grenades when the gun was the XK2 SubMachinegun.

I can´t name more at the moment, maybe there aren´t more bugs. (I hope so)

Some of those bugs have been adressed and you'll get the fix soon... Right now, we're trying to get this site ready for the flood of people that'll come through here when we announce and release the patch.
Shotgun air hit bug - Fixed.
Tracers go through walls - Will be refined, but right now its only the effect that goes through.
Reload/switch bug - Will check it out.
Will check railgun bugs.
Rocket come back bug - fixed.
Don't mention those bullet gib things! I tried to make it work better, but UTs got such a ---- gore/system!
It is common to get the wrong ammo for guns that have changing pickups. We'll see what can be done...

Aesthetics are still important. I’m sure that RS will work on the glitches and stuff, but they can work on this too. It isn’t as if you have to sacrifice one thing for another.

By the way, on the topic of third person animations… third person reloading animations sounds kind of sexy.

You know what's sad? Even with all these glitches, you're system's still alot better and more realistic than the one in Doom 3. I mean, come on. At least your shotgun doesn't make an annoying CLUNK! sound. ;3

And as for no gibs, there is a mutator on this site.
YES, that's right! I'm about to post a link!
NO GIBS MUTATOR: http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/sh ... did=429402

Which reminds me, that scripter has a Dual Wield modification that works pretty well with Ballistic, other than the thousands of hand animations that pop up on screen. Lmao. Here's his works: http://web.aanet.com.au/porkmanii/UT2k4/

We aren´t looking for a mutator to let gibs dissapear, we are trying to find a way to remove the possibility of players going to pieces when hit by a very damaging projectile.

I think a simple mutator could be made by checking out how Low Gore disables gibbing and use that method.

So with that kind of mutator enabled, you´d see blood and everything, but weapons couldn´t gib you no matter how much damage is dealt to you.

This could be a problem for abyss falls and deathzones in levels tho, but it can be fixed by some more scripting for the mutator.

NONONO That's EXACTLY what the mutator does, it keeps the bodies from gibbing so theyh don't fly to pieces. It was originally for the HaloUT mod since the bodies don't gib in Halo. It doesn't leave a part of a body, it leaves teh whole body, so it's like you can pump him full of a rocket and he wouldn't gib.

I´m honored.

Btw, I was joking above in case you took it seriously. Nothing wrong with macs, it´s just the games that aren´t given support for it.

Btw2, what do you think of my newly made signature?
