So if I understand right, 2.0 will have the new loadout menu, which will allow for much more customization of what equipment we can take, and won't use a "primary", "secondary" "melee" system anymore. My idea is a small addition to this, whereby each piece of equipment has a "weight" value attached to it. The combined weight of all of the player's equipment will determine how fast their character will move, and what special moves (double jumping, dodging ect) they can perform. Another possible addition would be an option to take armour, which would of course add to weight depending on how much you chose to take. If done right, I think this could allow people to choose how they wished to play BW a little more, and encourage more diverse playstyles. Here are a few examples: Player 1 is used to the more traditional "run and gun" shooters, and prefers firepower over defensive tactics like cover or dodging. To suit his play style, he takes a heavy weapon like a minigun or missile launcher and perhaps an assault rifle as well. At to that grenades and as much armour as possible, and you have a slow moving character that can take several good hits before going down, all while pouring out huge amounts of firepower. Player 2 is the realistic tactical shooter type, probably most used to games like counterstrike and raven shield. He doesn't believe in bunny hopping and circle strafing all over the place, but likes to be mobile enough to run from cover to cover, and lay down suppressing fire when it's needed. To this end, he chooses to take an assault rifle or machine gun, a couple of grenades, a small amount of armour and maybe one of the lighter pistols as a sidearm. The end result is a well balanced character that can take a couple of hits before dying, carries reasonable firepower and can move around adequately well. Player 3 is an avid quake 3 player and quite possibly an amphetamine addict. Speed and twitch skills are the only thing that matters here. This characters takes nothing that could possibly slow them down. The primary weapon would be either a pistol or a close combat weapon like the katana. Perhaps both a pistol and a melee weapon, but certainly nothing more. The almost total lack of equipment would allow the character to sprint and double jump to their hearts content, avoiding damage simply by moving too fast to be hit while gradually chipping away with light weapons that are relatively unaffected by the constant movement and jumping. Of course the downside would be that with no armour at all, it would take very few hits to bring this player down, and they'd also be hopelessly outgunned in a straight out firefight. I hope that those examples give some idea of what I'm talking about here, and perhaps show how this might add a little variety to the game. What does everyone think of this? |

Good idea, we heard of this idea before, but not for loadout. But you have to understand that the guns already being held (on screen) affect your speed. |

I'd love an universal BW option in the menu that makes you run slower based on how many weapons you are carrying. |

this weight should be combined with the max weapon holding. The idea of max weapon holding is that you can say how much weapons each player can hold. Or maybe its not max weapon slots, but max weight. So you can carry around 5 pistols. Or 2 assault rifles. Dropping weapons is of use that way. And to pickup a weapon, you'll have to press the use key. You don't want to accidently pick up a rocket launcher while hopping around. |

I'd prefer getting ammo boosts when picking up extra guns... |

don't forget the max ammo so if you only have the assault rifle, the max ammo you can carry increases too.

You do have a good idea going there, but isn't it hard to implement it correctly? I think one feature of BW 2.0 makes it more of a possibility though.

I was just thinking about something like this, but more in the way that Bulska mentioned. I had ideas for mutators that I was going to suggest, or even maybe sponsor, but I've been waiting to see if they'd even be relevant in 2.0. |

I'm not really saying that weight should determine how much you can carry at all (though that would be one way to do it) , what I'm saying is that weight should determine how well you perform with what you chose to take. One of the reasons for it is to make the smaller weapons more useful, because taking them over the larger ones would confer a handy speed and manuverability bonus. |

I find the smaller weapons plenty useful already, but this would be pretty cool to see implemented sometime.

So do I, but I like the idea of double jumping around the map with a silenced pistol and katana like some kind of futuristic ninja

I'd prefer single-jumping around the map.

If implemented it should be optional, that way you can tailor BW to fit the match. Could this also be over loaded so if you are using 5 heavy weapons and jump in the water you will sink and drown if you don’t drop one or two? |

I think Killing Floor is affected by weapon weight, you could always ask to see how they did it. |
