As the title says, Id request 3rd person animations for melee weapons. (Knife, Katana, Wrist blades) It will make it much more visually appealing and easier to use if there would be such a feature. Just use the same slicing/cutting animations as in the 1st person view. Try out the CUT2: evolution to see some melee sweetness (I think you might know about it, but what the heck.) http://chaotic.beyondunreal.com/index.php?view=cut2 Also besides that Id like a ''Use 3rd person view with melee'' check box. And while im still at it, Ill request a stamina bar that shows your sprint energy. The energy will recharge itself when not using the sprinting. Also the sprinting is way too slow in my opinion, even when I have melee weapon. (Im a slicing maniac and I like the katana alot. Getting into range is just too sloppy and slow.) Maybe an option for sprinting speed on the config would be great. EDITED. (Good point Bjossi.) |

Smoke grenade is useless. Bots will see through it, plus if you are doomed you just die and respawn. |

flash grenades would be the only possibility since the flash on the AM67 seems to do wonders with the bots, so maybe a flash grenade, but smoke wouldn't work at all. |

They do want to do this, but due to the limited animation support for UT04... its not an easy possibility... But with any luck they might make their own models some time and have support for it. |

Meh, I kinda was thinking of the grenade launcher that the scout has in UTXMP... the secondary fire poofs up a huge smoke cloud and nothing is visible... Hell, just forget it. |

Melee can be done with some skeletal animation (yes, like Chaos did). You only ever run into problems if someone makes a model that doesn't use the standardized bone names. |

That and you actually have to program in the animations, as opposed to using nice little tools that let you instantly see what moving the bone will do. Its not an easy process... |

This is a first person shooter we are talking about, 3rd person features should be the last thing to worry about. |

Not entirely, Bjossi, since you see others in third person view, but I do agree t hat it would be a rather low priority thing to worry about right now. |

The only reason i see why people would want it (as would I) is that you really don't have a clue if someone is attacking, defending (shield) etc, because the 3rd person animations are very limited and you just have to hope the guy isn't blocking. Adding very visual animations for meele combat (namely JW and BW) would be great. But until JW is as huge as the BW fallowing (its like a less than a quarter of the BW fallowing) now, the devs most likely won't really concentrate on it. Though if they did it, i'm very sure it'd bring many BW players into JW. For thats the reason why i don't play Junk Wars, is cause you just press prim fire and hope that you hit first. No strategy at all. |

A feature like this should wait until the next big release, for now the devs should concentrate on bugfixing 2.0 first release. Then come new features and weapons, which might be 3rd person anims. |
