I was just reading about the DE and J55 in the BW General forum, and OC suggested the DE Silencer thing, then Bjossi said UT2004 isn't good for stealth. I was wondering if Ballistic Weapons can feature a stealth system for AI. Besides featuring Dark Players, I was thinking it would be neat if you are affected by the lighting. For example, if you are traveling through a dark corridor, bots will walk past you unless they bump into you. If you are directly under a light source all bots who see you will attack.

It would also be pretty cool if how much sound your player is making will affect stealth as well. Crouching and walking will make less sound, making it more likely that you can stab someone in the back. When you fire your weapon, how loud it is will decide whether the bot will not know what hit him/her or hear your gunshot and fire at you. An additional factor will be how heavy your weapon is. I mean, miniguns wouldn't be dead quiet. It would cause some sound when moved around, and probably will shake. This will make it so you can't follow behind someone with a G5 in your hands, or the bot will hear you and turn around.


If it can't be implemented in UT2004, let's hope it could be put in UT2007, or hope that a stealth system has already been put in.

I dunno if bots understand it, but you already make less noise when crouching or walking.

It would also be neat if bots could see laser-sight beams.

This would make it so much better for my map mod I did to SavoIsland, where it's super hard to see much. The only way I could make bots not see you through brush though was a blocking volume (that only blocked projectiles really, but also bot sight).
