I thought of something when I shot someone in the flamethrower tank. Shouldn't the amount of gasoline or whatever be relative to the amount of ammunition that you have in the flamethrower at the time the shot was taken. With that, I personally think that when your tank gets shot:

1) You start to lose ammunition really fast.

2) The more ammunition you have, the higher you go.

3) One your ammunition hits zero, the tank explodes.

Of course the above ideas are very open to tweaking, but assuming that your ammo comes from that tank, I personally think that may make sense.

What if someone had 1 ammo left? No explosion?

This is something I had never given any thought before. Naturally 1 - 5 ammo is not enough to cause anything major to happen, if anything at all. But if you do have quite a bit of ammo, then those three steps of action suggested above fit nicely I'd say.

Except in 3) I think the explosion should come after a certain amount of ammo has been burned, not necessarily when the counter reaches 0.

Interesting. This makes a lot of sense and makes me feel dumb for having not thought of it before.

As an addendum, if your tank gets punctured, you should be unable to fire due to a lack of pressure, as everythings shooting out of the hole in the tank.

hey if you get hit it should wind up your tank leaking and if you fire it'll go off like a roman candle

Thats why I said that the above open to tweaking, as I have no idea exactly how it should go. I personally would say that if it exploded with one ammo, that is REALLY violate fuel!

I'd rather if the tank just exploded straight away with no jetpacking around the map at all. It's slightly more realistic and would also act as a small nerf to the flamethrower, which it does kind of need.

I suggested an instant explosion long time ago, but the devs preferred that flying-before-exploding crap.

Do you mean exploding with only one ammo unit on the counter or strait away explosion even with a half empty tank.

I think it would be nice that if you have only one ammo unit left it should leak and start a fire just on yourself and you could start running around screaming :D or in other words burn slowly to death or untill the fire is put out

I mean exploding if someone shoots the fuel tank, of course 'explosion or not' is determined by the amount of fuel in there.

I'd like it if the victim flew erratically in different directions instead of straight up.

You can always just throw the gun and you will fall down...
