How about insted of double jump you add a climbing feature. You wouldn't need to add an animation. Just the ability to walk over to a ledge jump grabon. pull yourself up and keep running.
I think it would suit BW more

I have never modded anything ever before though so i don't know how hard this would be.

agreed, well kinda.

Double jump should stay, but make it grounded like UT3.

But climbing should be on this mod, because you can climb cliffs or if you are falling to a certain death you can grab the side then climb up to the spot you are on, but climbing could take up stamina, and climbing faster takes up more stamina.

Apparently double jumping in UT3 has a short recovery penalty (it slows you down) or so I hear.

I made a suggestion a while back to keep double jumping but only when you were against a wall so it would appear you were trying to scale the wall and not magically boosting off air.

Another way is to replace double jump with a extra high "leap" that is only triggered if you duck, then jump.

Climbing on the other hand is still a sound idea but may be difficult to code and animate.

Ooooh I have another possible Idea!
you could make a jetpack (maybe as a replacement to one of the powerups) that just just gives you extra height (double jump).
so normaly you can only do a single (higher than usual) jump but when you find the jetpack you get double jump back.

Its best not to think about that.

Nowadays its hard to think of something that has not be thought of before. Some games dont even bother and just stick with traditional "usual" game concepts. Even the bizzarre and emaginative Prey had been beaten to the concept of biological weapons by Half Life and Jet packs have been around since Duke Nukem

but hey tennis games are still being made and they suck(in my opinion) and its been around since...well pong....god i hate that game i hate it so much. it would be better instead of a ball bouncing backwards and forwards it was.. oh i dunno a grenade ya miss ya get fragged...

Heh heh, I think that game is already taken as well. Tekken 4 there is a huge bomb and if you don't hit it back you lose a life. Lol
But i suppose that is more like volleyball...

I can make climbing on ledges in my maps if I want to, no need for mutator. Although a mutator would allow people to climb ledges anywhere. For my maps, I just use ladder volumes on the right place with bstrafe=true.

Jetpacks could work aswell, like the flamethrower jet controllable.

Except when people try to fire when hanging from a ledge they look like they are grabbing on with their hair.

Of course,

-Disable firing

-Restrict view angle to 90 degress facing the wall

-Show ledge grabbing hands in first person view

-play animation "ledge_shuffle"

But this requires heavy modding.
