I've been wondering about something... wouldn't it be better if we had a survival mode in Serious Sam style? For example: one huge arena with a couple off power-ups such as faster running, higher jumping and stuff like that. And hordes of monsters with low AI, who come rushing into your way like a bunch off retards. and when you defeat one wave, guns spawn randomly spawn in areas off the arena. What do you guys think off this? |

Killing floor is nothing like Serious Sam... I would love this though, as current invasion games have enemies spawning everywhere, so if you hole up in a comfortable little room the defend from the oncoming waves, guess what? A monster spawned behind you... If there was just a tweak to Invasion and a few maps changes, something could work pretty nicely. Just make a new class of Player Start points, and have them set so only monsters can spawn there, then go into INV code to have monsters spawn from those points instead. Though one thing I'd like a lot better is if you just had a spawn volume, then just made a box or a cylinder or something, slapped it in an area you'd want monsters to spawn from (or add several volumes for this) and save the map and call it good. Though it'd be nice if you could have some in-game way to configure the maps so people not privy to mapping could convert maps themself. Though still, it wouldn't be hard to figure out. I should look into the code for invasion... |

FHIInv uses a monster spawn point, and KF uses a Zombie Spawn volume, so all of X's ideas are done already. |

But, not in a standard invasion mode... But since thats the case, it really shouldn't be too hard to do. |

There was an invasion mod for UT2k3 that added 3 new game modes. These modes had invasion monsters spawn from the Dom point B, Blue Flag, or Blue Bombing Run goal, then they charged towards the Red Base. The mode were compatible with their respective maps, CTF/VCTF, DOM, BR, with no need to play additional 'monster spawn' points. it was slightly buggy, in that you would sometimes spawn in the wrong base, and have to run away before the monsters started spawning during the round warm up. Unfortunately, the mod does not appear to work with UT2k4. it can be viewed here http://unrealtournament2004.filefront.c ... _Mod;12476 You may need a *.ut2 extractor to get the files out. Maybe it not working is just my system, so give it a whirl if you're curious, or want to look at its coding to figure out how they did it. http://unrealtournament2004.filefront.c ... actor;9467 I would hope it would be easy to hack a similar functionality, and maybe get the Blue Power Core spawning monsters for ONS maps as well. Those looking for a less random spawning pattern for monsters should also check out the gauntlet mode in U4E Gateways, where mosnters spawn from gates until you destroy the gates - and I think you can swap the monster types being spawned through a confi menu or some ini editing. While we're on the subject of gamemodes, how about Ballistic VCTF? Eh? Eh? |

My copy of UT is corrupted right now and I'm holding off on reinstalling it until I get hired again, but speaking of the devil, someone just posted up such a mutator that works like this for ONS maps in ut2k4. haven't tested it. http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=600105 |

it would be interesting if someone mods the TAM system, as it can be played in DM maps. so players will be separated from the monsters. I would like to fight some monsters at helmzdeep, my team at the castle and the monsters really invading. well, the name of the gametype is Invasion, also. |

Check out SUDvasion, in team maps like CTF and ONS, etc., it spawns monsters at Blue base while you spawn at Red base. Apparently Vehicle Invasion is recommended for this as it allows all map types to be used. From what I've seen though its pretty awesome, but I still need to learn the various features it has. |
