A long time ago, someone made a ut2k4 map based on the Silent Hill game, and it came with a mutator that would apply "noise" to the screen (like a lot of those night vision mutators), and it could be made global for all maps.

Does anyone know about any more cool filters/graphical adjustments like this out there? An antique movie film filter would be neat. Any adjustments to contrast/lighting, etc., maybe a black-and-white filter or cell-shader?

I don't know what RS is planning to do platform-wise, but if they work on BW for ut2k4 any more, maybe something like this might make a neat feature. They sure seem to know their way around the effects, no doubt their attempt would be amazing.

This would be neat for certain situations like when you jump out of a pool of water. 8)

Btw, there is already a screen overlay that adds blood to the screen when you get blood in the face. I'd say it proves they can do it, and do it well.

If you pay attention(not at the zombies like you usually do),they have this 'noise' in Killing Floor.

Argh, I wish I had more coding experience and photoshop, I'd start working on some of this stuff. I can tweak the screen noise mutator to go sepia tone, but it sucks for most maps, and that's about all I know how to do.

Wasn't there some kind of "old fil" overlay in the assault map intro movies? I swear I remember seeing it, but I just tried to watch it again in instant action and singleplayer, and it didn't show up. Was I hallucinating, or was that effect there, maybe removed with a patch?

If it is in the game already, do any of you know how to create a mutator to get it applied to normal gameplay?

I've been looking around, I can't find anything about it, but I know I saw it. I've got these lawdogs player models, and western soundtracks to play in the background, getting this film grain on the screen would be so cool!

Maybe when a tank shell explodes within the vicinity of you dirt particles can fly onto your screen. And maybe the players sound can turn into a ringing sound for a few seconds. I'm not sure if thats already like in BW...haven't played it in awhile.

I'm talking more about an effect that is applied to the entire screen for the whole game.

It is in the opening movie effects, yep. It doesn't go all the way with the washed out colour, but there are little scratches and marks here and there. Maybe the graphic detail needs to be set higher if you're not seeing it, cause I always see it in the brighter maps.

Yeah, I was sure I remembered it, but I just watched the opening movie again, and I don't see it now. I have all my details set at their highest. I don't know what's wrong with me!
