Post subject:  Thor Tank Improvements Idea

I propose to implement Special Function and Fire Mode keys for a tank, to add the headlights, turret light and brakelights, to add the openable gunner hatch with player model and to add machine gun overheating feature Image (if very long time firing).

Driver position controls:
Primary Fire: Fire Cannon
Secondary Fire: Zoom
Special: Turn on/off headlights and turret light
Fire Modes: Double Barrel Shot, Single Barrel Shot

Gunner position controls:
Primary Fire: Fire Machine Gun
Secondary Fire: Zoom (if gunner sits inside the tank)
Special: Close hatch and switch to remote gun control / Open hatch and control gun manualy
Fire Modes: Full Auto, Burst Fire, Semi-Auto Fire

This are photoshoped illustrations for proposed features:

The gunner hatch (opens/closes by Special Function key of gunner place).
1. If the hatch open the m.gun turn speed is fast (because it turned by hands) but gunner can be damaged or be killed and can't use zoom function (because he uses his own eyes).
2. If the hatch closed the gunner controls weapon with remote control inside of the tank. Turn speed of the machine gun is slow (because it turns by small remote controled engines) and zoom function are enabled (because gunner uses tank vision device).

The headlights and the turret light (turns with turret for searching the targets in dark maps). By driver Special Function key all this lights can be turned off for hiding in dark areas or can be turned on.

The current tank model has the brakelights but it does not work. It is logicaly to make this lights working like in other UT vehicles.

there are only two things I don't like about the tank.
A:Parabolic tank shells,while this isn't a bad thing,the arc is quite hard to deal with.A slightly less amount of 'fall' would be nice,plus bots would have more chance of being a threat in this thing.
B;Funkyness when using vehiclestuff,really I think those awesome tank treads are doing something strange here.
With the right modifications to the tank you can make it fly!

Otherwise,one of the most badass tanks ive ever driven.

It just looks like I'm gonna make a Railgun variant of this soon! Then we'll have CnC3 GDI tanks of all tiers! The Predator and Mammoth!

I don't how much the bot AI can be improved so they actually hit something with the thor tank. They sometimes still seem to believe they can hit that nodet 30 M away if they shoot in a straight line. That's one of the main things that's bothering me now regarding the tank.

I like Scorpion's ideas though for the gun turret and all. Though, break lights on a tank? :P

Some corrections for hatch idea.

The hatch must be rotating and machine gun must be mounted on the hatch to be able 360 degree rotating.

Indeed the hatch should be conected to a rotating ring,i personally like the second drawing for this though it would make the thor a bit overpowerd considering the gunner is shelterd against enemy fire .
Also i would increase the speed of the shell ( longer range) The lights could be made so strong that you would temporarly blind your opponent (only when looking straight into them) this would make them a nice weapon ( causing fear etc...)
