Hi, my name is Justin. I'm 21, I have been playing nothing but FPS since 98'. I must say, that I like this mod, it is fun and creative. A mix of real world weapons and sci-fi weapons making an interesting combo. I like the railgun, taken right out of the movie "Eraser". Ever since I have downloaded this mod, thats all I play, which beats the Unreal weapons. I always wanted to be an unreal modder, but I just never could learn beyond mapping. After countless hours of playing with the Ballistic weapons, I developed some really interesting ideas myself. I'll share them with you, and you can tell me what you think. -Melee aspect- Meele is fun but looks dull. I mean, in v1.6 the characters do the same hack & slash over and over again. I think meele combat can be taken to a whole new level. Characters in UT04 can double tap dodge, double jump, crouch, and wall dodge. (and not to mention in several different directions too) With all these various moves, it is possible to program dozens of special attacks and combos. Ideas on that would be... Backwards stab - running backward + pressing primary fire Over the head hack (powerful) - running forward + double jump + primary fire thrust stab - running forward + double tap forward + primary fire hack & slash - primary fire (current feature) blocking - secondary fire roll - crouch + double tap in desired direction But as you can see there are many combo possibilities. How about if some one double taps forward then in the air double jumps. What kind of sick combo could a character preform. This idea evolved from a mixture of mortal kombat and jedi knight 2 outcast. I would also like to point out that after you kill a guy with a sword, there is not blood on the blade. Remember the old ChaosUT, lovely blood drenched blades, even for a game built on the old engine. -Tactical aspect- Frequently, when playing, looking at these great weapon models, I keep thinking there is an aim-down-the-sight feature. It would come in handy for better accuracy over extreme distance especially in ONS, CTF, and Assault. but that is the modders call, I don't know if they want to make it a little tactical, or just keep it silly fun. We all know that using the sight would reduce a player to walking, and in crouch position would further more increase accuracy. Another idea would be a prone feature. Plus it would be the best position for the maximum accuracy when aiming down the sight. Last but not least, would be a lean feature. But for some reason I dont see arena maps using this very well. It would be better for close combat maps. But still it boils down to thier call on that. -weapon additions- AK-47: Extremly popular for all shooters. If there is an M50 then they should consider the AK-47 too. It is like Yin and Yang. They are the two big rivals. Double Micro-UZI's: Everyone loves these fun little bastards, brings back the old school days for Tomb Raider. Ninja stars: Well you have the Katana, so why not give a ninja his stars. best for medium distance silent kills. Smoke grenades: v1.6 has the frag and fire grenade, I'm surprised they did not include the imfamous smoke grenade. Nothing brings more choas to an arena than not knowing which direction the enemy is, even if he is standing 3 feet infont of you. Artillary!:woohoo:: Hell ya! "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" Weather its bombs or napalm or both; having people scatter for cover when they hear an incoming artillary strike, is the ultimate rush. I would do it the Call of Duty style. People can pick up binoculars and zone in on a spot, just like to target painter without the red lazer. However there would not be a plane overhead, you would just hear the imcoming bombs, and seconds later huge explosions all around that spot. Talk about a major subwoofer pounding. Depending on how intense and real the explosions sound, you could knock a gamer on his @$$ if he was suddenly caught in a artillary strike.:evil: The only down side of this is if everyone has it and uses it, it could slow down frame rates or crash a computer. So you would have to figure out how to balance it out. -v1.6 problems- The only problem I can point out is the railgun. I'm using it through a wall directly at people who are no more than 10 feet away and it does nothing. This is not a problem, but it looks a little cheesy. :unsure:When somthing is exploded underwater, it looks like a fountain splash, instead if a explosion splash. The explosions underwater sound like the explosions above water. When shooting underwater, it sounds the same as shooting above water. When I'm underwater and people are shooting at me from above water it sounds the same. To get a better idea listen to the sound FX of the landing scene of Saving Private Ryan. Well that is it, I hope some of my ideas will inspire the modding guys in future Ballistic versions.

Nice ideas there, the smoke grenade would be very useless offline though. But I don´t think melee combos are a good idea for such a fast paced game, I´d rather want to see few types of animation for the primary attack. And I agree with that the water is badly designed (by Epic). I think RS can do little about it other than making new sounds for each weapon, for underwater effects. And I love the idea to have blood on the bladed weapons.
The artillery idea sounds good but wouldn´t work, at least bot the airplane one. There aren´t many big outdoors maps as far as I know. You got some really good ideas there.

i already convinced Rune Storm to get the UZY's in there so we're good to go on that.. the melee ideas sound like they came from Chaos ut2004 (the moving + shoot, ect.) cuz you can do all that stuff in there. we need BW skins! |

Hah! We like lots of those ideas! Especially cause some of them echo stuff we'd already like to put in!;) Prone and Lean are among those ideas, but could be tricky at this stage. We've planned things like that for future endevours... Blade blood! Cool. We'll have to see if we can get that in sometime...
Look down sights is nice. We are actally working on adding this feature to our weapon system and may actually implement it sooner than expected! Yeah, we need something to fill the ak's void... Right now, that might be something called the IG28... Remember this is a futrure(ish) universe... UZIs are very high on our list of things to go in next! Especially the double kind with blades! We were wanting smoke grenades, but for now thats on hold cause of soething called a 'bot'... When we figur out how to make it hide you from them, then da smokers will go in!B) Artillery would be nice. We would like to add that kind of thing sometime... Underwater sounds! I know, it sucks... We'll have to figure something out eventually... Railgun not shoot through walls can happen on rare occasions when a very wierd combination of geometry makes up said wall... Well, we do like just about all those ideas and many are already on our lists, so extra good!

every ONE here run to block buster (where ever you can rent games) and rent the PS2 game called "Black" its new and has "NEXT GEN GRAPHICS" (OMG)! the reason for doing that is this game has the most awesome AK skin! the guns are real nice to. maybe this game will give you (Rune Storm) some weapon ideas. not to mention the game kicks major a**! just a thought........... |

I wouldn´t say next gen graphics, you could barely imagine how the game would look like on a PC. I mean, for $20 you could get a PC faster than the PS2... Aaaanyway, I agree on the weapons part. They remind me a lot of how BW are. But I think we need fresh new types of weapons like Flamethrower and perhaps a superweapon, like a Minigun that I suggested in another thread.

I agree with the flamethrower, people cant say its impossible, they had it in Unreal XMP. Here is a fun thought. Vision modes (kind of like the predator) night vision: light enhancement (duhh!) human vision: human characters stand out alien vision: alien characters stand out robot vision: robot characters stand out |

are you insane? almost all comps are to slow to run a PS2 game, PS2 is a console meant for playing games and only games. even if the graphics went all that good you would need a super computer to run it. why do you think there isn't a PS2 emulator out yet? Black would not look as good as on computer, with PS2 every thing is always set to BEST quality (AND YOU DONT GET LAG). with computers you have to set the settings so you dont get major lagage. you know what i mean? |

You are saying I´m insane, when you think a 5 year old console can beat a modern PC? You don´t know the basics of how emulators work. An emulator is a code converter. It makes a PS2 readable to the PC, and it is not the PS2 game slowing down the PC, it is the emulation itself. Plus, in PS2 they use gigantic amounts of optimizations to remove lag. I could give you much more detail but you wouldn´t understand it because this is something you learn in computer physics and technology in high school. |

exactly
and i am in high school but havnt took many computer courses yet. is there really a newer game on console that you could run on a pc with HIGH quality (textures, rendering, detail, ect.)? i mean maybe even a newer pc game, could you do that? you would have to have one HELL of a computer to run a game like Black on a pc with ALL options turned to high quality. (Black's graphics are pretty damn amazing compared to other PS2 games) dont under estimate me, its obvious that emulators are code converters. its simple Post edited by: James, at: 2006/03/17 22:07 |

Well, Black is a really good looking game, and if they would add DX9 effects to a PC version and make us able to remove the optimizations that make the game not look as good as it could, then yes, a PC would have a hard time. By the way, I use Super Nintendo emulator, and it runs games quite slowly. Either the emulator is badly coded or the game is. (in that case it would take the emulator a lot of processing power to code-convert the game) |

on my "SLOW" computer i am able to run a super nintendo emu fine. i even played it online (more like LAN) with my bro on the other computer (its worse than this one). i get some lag on my other computer but its out dated so............ yah, you should be able to handle a Sness emu. try another one. btw, i had BIG trouble with a N64 emulator. that might be my comps falt................. |

I really think Ballistic doesn't need lean or prone cause that would suggest its a "tactical" mod at this point which it isn't and i hope it doesn't become!! Ballistic Weapons is just fast UT2k4 styled fun with modern and alien weapons! Looking down the sights would be cool it would be key acivated (thats if you want it, the Z key would be best for this cause it's alomost never used!) Nice to hear that the team is thinking of a void filler gun!! The one thing that needs to be changed is that when jumping its impossible to kill anyone and its almost always impossible (not really but VERY annoying) to kill someone while your moving, that part should be fix more like 1.5 so you can kill while running, yes i know it isn't "realistic" but who gives a crap its a mod that for UT2k4 the most UN-realistic game out their!! That or the it should be optional! |

I think it´s ok, with lean you could lean around a corner and fire at the enemy while he/she can hardly hit you. The game can be tactical if you want it to.
Just make sure another player doesn´t shoot at your back while leaning.

lean i could sorta live with having but where would it go on my keyboard NOWHERE!! ARUGHH! As long as the prone or lean is only activated with keys than it would be acceptable, but i've never seen prone done in any mod for UT2k4!! |

Then simply don´t map any button to the lean commands, it´s simple really. But what do you have against leaning? It is very useful to kill enemies around corners and stay safe from their backfire at the same time. |

nothing much i just won't be able to use it thats all, having Dual Wielding and Ballistic Weapons keys have taken most of my key slots only the Z key is aviable for prone!:cheer: |

Z is a good button for prone. It's the default key for prone in Battlefield 2, and I find that spot convenient.

We'dve added prone and lean already if they were easier to add... They'll likely go in in the future... Also, prone would look pretty damn rediculous with UT's lack of anims...:laugh: |

its when you lie on your stomach and you have way better accuarcy! I new that prone would be hard to do, if it gets to annoying to work with scrape it and work on some weapons or some! |
