Personally, something I'd like to see in CW (man I'm so used to referring to BW from way back in the day lol), is ZeroPing hit detection, or at least an option for it. I feel such an option for such a feature would drastically widen the gameplay possibilities. Basically, what this is for those who don't know, is a hit detection system that emulates 0 ping. The upside of this, is there's no ping-based advantage. you look at an enemy, click, bam, hit comes out instantly regardless of ping, and the hit registers. The downsides to this is you can get shot while you're behind a wall if someone shoots on their screen before you run behind it. This style of hit detection makes it easier to land shots, but harder to avoid getting hit. The way Unreal works, you shoot, and based on your ping, your shot comes out a few frames afterwards. If you've sniped in UT, you know what I'm talking about. The way Zeroping works, you shoot, your shot comes out instantly, and if it hits someone it sends "I hit you" to the player. The lag is transferred from the shot to the enemy, and the enemy dies a few frames after you shoot them. Games that use this style of hit detection include Quake, Sauerbraten, many of those CS clones (Wolfteam, Crossfire, Combat Arms, etc), and Call of Duty. Personally I'd love to see such an option available for servers. I feel it would give the weapons a much more military-esque, tactical feel, and it would help people with bad connections actually get a chance of getting some kills, lol. |

I'm definitely for a system of this style. The current system just does not work for the way recoil and chaos are set up. Shooting a railgun and watching the bright trail go 90 degrees up is not very beneficial to gameplay. |
