Discounting the core weapons of course (v2.1) I have the official bonus packs, and all the community ones as well. No balance packs.

Aside from the official release, I have Bonus Pack 4, all of Sgt. Kelly's Weapon Packs (minus v9; waiting for the official release), and Fische11's and Jack Carver's weapon pack Beta V3 (if a more recent release has been...well...released, I don't know about it :p).

I used to have Krazy Kaboodle's Weapon Pack installed until I noticed an issue with some of the weapons showing up twice (duplicates and multiples of the same weapon) in some of the menus. It made my OCD flip out and I pretty much got rid of it for the sake of keeping my sanity and organizational skills in check. x: I have to try to get it going again, as I don't think it was an issue with that weapon pack, but an older version of one of Sgt. Kelly's Bonus Packs.

It was that or it felt more like a balance pack. I'm not opposed to balance packs so long as they don't replace anything and I wanna say it replaced some of the originals. I'll look through it again.

Basically I have a lot of weapons. :p Though for me there's no such thing as having a lot of weapons. :D I'm always on the lookout for more weapon packs, since BW recreates the feeling of aspects in games I like (i.e. lots of weapons and variety in equipment like in Combat Arms and MW2) without the headaches found in the same games (getting paired up with teammates with the collective IQ of expired mayo [they block my path, get in the way of my line of sight and grenade tosses, take my kills, get me killed in the process], clans who do nothing but trash talk and take the game too seriously because they think they're "pro") and with the added benefit of bot support (which perform wonderfully with the BW mod).

EDIT: Yeah, I stopped using it because I couldn't use Kaboodle's Weapons Pack with other weapons pack and it messed with the handling of some of the weapons I really liked. Went back and read the thread regarding the pack. Ah well.

To say that bots work well with BW is rather an embellishment. Bots don't understand recoil and will keep their crosshair directly on you even when recoil is pushing the weapon's aim above the normal point of aim. Locking recoil to the crosshair fixes that without conferring any real disadvantage as let's face it, recoil is a factor that's meant to affect the sights, but bots don't understand sights so they're still mostly cack at long range depending on the hipfire spread of the weapon.

I'm assuming that people are playing using the BW aim system here.

I appreciate that there is extended bot support in BW, but consider that things must be judged primarily by the end result and not by the amount of work that has been put into them.

Additionally, I have no idea how people can play this game without balance packs. At the very least you need quick sights unless you're one of those people who never uses anything outside of the Superweapon classes.

I don't use sights a whole lot or balance packs for the most part. But I do mainly play Invasion type games. My preferred weapons include the CYLO, Coach Gun, MR-DR88 SMGs, and the occasional HMC Beam gun or HVC Plasma Cannon, but only on boss waves.

The bots do behave better with recoil on higher skill.

Personally, i'm not into balance packs either. BW was never designed to be taken as a "serious" game, and i just like playing it the way we made it :) It really is good fun with a bunch of bots on a small LAN. I couldn't play with balance packs, because to me, it seems like it's being watered down into something else. I'm not a "Pro" player, i just like to have fun with a stack of crazy weapons and destroy bots that work well enough to fight back :P But i can understand how some weapons may not work in a competitive environment.

But we obviously encourage modders to change it to their style of play. That's why there are tons of options in BW, and why we added good mod support to the systems. It plays out-of-the-box how we wanted it too by default, but by tweaking the options or doing some code work, you can have it the way you want :)

PS: Superweapons rule! I love the Artillery, it's one of my favourites. But then so is the R9 and the D49. I don't go for the highest damage, i go for the guns i like, which is obviously influenced by factors more than damage and stuff :D

This post pretty much summed up what I was gonna add in regards to balance packs. I'm certainly not against them. However, BW always felt to me like UT2004 was: over-the-top, smash mouth, in-your-face and that's generally what I look for when I play UT2004.

As far as gun usage goes, what if I like them all? :p I can't think of a weapon out of what's available that I don't like. It doesn't matter what weapon I happen to be equipped with, I never feel like I'm outgunned. A bot could have an E-V Hyper Plasma Cannon 9000 while I have an RS04 .45 Handgun and I know I can take him/her/it out. I've found every gun in just about every pack has its use.

As far as super weapons go, those are definitely a plus. :D However, I'm surprised there's no BW-equivalent of a Redeemer (in that it uses a nuclear warhead :p). I always imagined a nuke-based BW weapon to have a larger blast radius than the original Redeemer, that or just flat out kill everyone. Maybe that's just me, though. :p

Same thing for BW-equivalents of an Ion Painter, AvRIL, and Target Painter. Ah well. Just a wish of mine. :>

I'd make them if I knew anything about coding and modeling, that and if I had the time. College keeps me plenty busy as it is. :p

I have literally every Ballistic Weapon in my armory. I have so many, in fact, that the game crashes if I spawn all guns at once.

For actual gameplay I use all the core and official weapons, as well as Jack's and my weapons. (Obviously.) I usually disable the .u's of the balance packs so that I can actually use the swappers and loadouts though.

By the way, TheOrlyFactor, a nuclear rocket launcher is already in the works. ;)

I have all the official weapon packs plus Sgnt. Kelly's v8 weapon pack.

I usually play it with the ballistic arena mutator.

I use my own pack (very different now from the one I released over a year ago), obviously, but I hesitate to call it a "balance" pack. It started out as a one, but due to years of feature creep and a general lack of discipline or any kind of cohesive vision, it slowly ballooned into a "Balance + Realism/Internal consistency + new features + improve gunplay" pack. My guns are hardly recognizable from the originals, as far as recoil and handling goes, and many have new or different features to differentiate them further from their ancestors.

I also use Kelly's pack and any of the old weapons that I haven't gotten around to modifying yet. I suppose you could also add the 2.5 weapons once I'm finally able to download them.
