BW v2.5 Doesn't Work for me.

Post subject:  BW v2.5 Doesn't Work for me.
I've already installed the Megapack, and the stuff I need for BW v.2.0, BW v.2.1, and BWBP4. Now, I'm trying to install BW V 2.5, but it doesn't work for me. :?:

After getting it from a download link, it said to ask me to open/save it with something and I chose Notepad. When I tried that, the Notepad was just empty. Can someone please explain what I should do because I'm extremely confused.

You do not need BWBP4 or any other official content, v2.5 isn't called 'Complete' for no reason. The only additional content you need to get separately are unofficial packs like Sarge's weapon pack.

What are you confused about? The BW 2.5 download is a rar file, you open those files with an archiver, like WinRar, WinZip or 7-Zip for examples.

I'm asking why the BW download isn't a ZIP file. When I download it, it comes as a notepad.

And do I copy and paste the notepad into system?

What in the world makes you think BW is shipped as a text document? The mod ships as a rar file, essentially the same thing as a zip file in practice. Just use the same program you use to open zip files.

Or maybe you are using Windows explorer to open zip files? If so there is a good chance you will need to download and install a program to open and decode rar files if Windows has no native support for them. I recommend WinRar or 7-Zip (I prefer the latter.).

The prevalence of .rar has increased dramatically in recent years due to significant gains over .zip compression. WinRAR or a similar archiving program is a requirement these days.

Alright. I downloaded the winrar, and extracted all the stuff, but I still see no Acid gun or X4 Knife. :-[

It would be very helpful if you were more detailed when describing your actions. Where did you extract the stuff to? Where is UT2004 installed on your computer?

By the way, I recommend that you completely uninstall BW 2.0/2.1 and BWBP4 before installing 2.5. There is a batch file (Uninstall_BWv25Complete.bat) in the 2.5 archive that you can run for a quick uninstall, just make sure the batch file is in the root UT2004 folder when you run it. Don't let the filename fool you, it will uninstall all BW related files from older versions as well.

Save it to a new Folder extract it there. You will have eight new folders,
(Animations, Help, Maps, Music, Sounds, StaticMeshes, System, Textures) Open each folder one at a time, take all the files and put them in to the appropriate folder in your UT4.
All and only Animations files go in to your UT4 Animations folder, do the same thing with Help, Maps, Music, Sounds, StaticMeshes, System, Textures.
Then just double check to make sure that their all in the right places.
Just check for the file prefixes (.UKX .UT2 .UAX .USX .UTX The .U and .UL are bouth system files.

It works now. Thanks for the help everyone. After reinstalling everything, it worked. :happy-jumpyellow:
