I got this idea it would be pretty cool, namely since the current sniper rifle has no special function for it why not we give it a silencer. it would muffle the loud bang enough to make your opponeant wonder where his attacker is.

I support this idea 110%.

But I also think the barerl should be shortened a bit. It looks akwardly long and thin right now. Shorter and a bit thicker would be good.

Yeah the current sniper is a classic model, I wouldn't mess with it. Better put the silencer on something like an M14; 7.62 mm semi auto with 20 rnd capacity but significantly weaker than the R78A1. But this has all been discussed before, afaik...

heres something new a skirth energy sniper
primary fire:a energy burst similar to the lightning gun
secondary fire:scope
special fire:thermal vision (simular to the predators)
we do need a varity of skirth weapons because Bw has a small portion of alien weapons and
i definatly expect BW to be a complete armory of weapons

A skrith sniper rifle would definetly be cool, but there have been more interesting ideas discussed than just another lightning gun. Personally, I really liked the skrith harpoon gun idea.

And I don't want the sniper to looks like a short-barelled silly thing, but it DOES look a little bit spindly right now. I just think it could ues a slightly more solid look, and shortening the barrel a bit would do that. But it's just my opinion, and I don't expect the mod to change so suit my whims.

Well i think (as i've pointed out in page 2 of the thread) that the skirth sniper rifle would be semi-automatic, thats a given, as always wouldn't be majorly powerful, but enough to be considered a sniper rifle, it has an optical zoom. Also to make the skirth sniper rifle (henceforth called the SSR... in this thread) more of a unique weapon, how about that the projectile inside the SSR is partly unstable, not to the point of exploding at an unexpected moment, but more like it can cause lasting damage. The projectile would be a condenssed energy used in the skirth energy rifle, but as just mentioned it would be like a beam almost, also the beam would be the same color as the skrith energy rifle, when hit it would just pass through shields (like all skirth tech weapons should since their kinda weak) barely giving them damage, it would pass most of it damage on the health of the player, almost burning him cause it's such a condensed form of energy. When hit the player who was hit sorta has a lightning gun effect on him, though it lasts longer and in fact is more of a blueish energy coursing through him. Same thing would happen when dead.

I meant shortening or otherwise messing with the barrel, that would suck. Simply putting a bigass silencer on the R78A1's long, thin barrel could look a bit strange, but it would be ok I guess.

But hey, sniper rifles are fun so why not add a new model? This one could be the complete opposite of the current sniper and railgun: a .22 or .32 target rifle that does relatively little body / limb damage but can still kill outright with a headshot. A real skill gun. To compensate for its lack of power it would have a somewhat higher mag capacity and a silencer.

Well i like this rifle already... yeah i'd love to see BW with a nice rifle that takes skill to use, no odd headshots when you aim for someones belly.

Why the hell would any skrith want a sniper rifle. According to the background stories I've heard, Skrith prefer to fight up close as much as possible...

But sometimes it just isn't possible, and strategy involves the use of snipers and troops on offense.

Thats why i love the sniper rifle, its gives you a whole different way of fighting. Instead of the normal sucide rush at the guy with the shotgun, you can instead flank him and then shoot him in the side or back. Snipers are truely the best, and they couldn't possibley be called cowards since when they hit someone they get treated to a bloody gore fest... at least if their zoom is good enough

But a Skrith sniper would give away the sniper's location like the LG.

yeah well by the time you fully turned around to shoot the guy with it, he'd have hit you with at least 1 or two more hits, or just a headshot.

Alright here's another idea of mine, you know how when the brass gets ejected you see it fall and it goes on the ground, well why not when you reload your gun you get to see your dropped magazine on the ground.

That's a good idea. And I haven't seen it implemented anywhere other than Unreal Fortress for UT99.

And another thing. When you reload magazine-fed weapons before they run out of ammo, you should have one extra round in the chamber, since you never got rid of the currently chambered round when you reloaded.

So, if you reload an XK2 before it runs dry, you would then have 51 rounds in the magazine, instead of 50.

That sounds oddly like a good idea.

Well, maybe not good, but realistic.

And for things the shotgun and shotpistol, this would mean you could have a total of 10 and 12 shells, respectively. 2 chambered and the remainder in the magazine/tube. But, of course, this feature wouldn't apply to the revolver. Or the G5. Or the flamethrower, probably. Basically, just weapons that chamber a round out of the magazine before firing. Also, it wouldn't apply to the belt-fed guns, for obvious reasons.

Here's another gun for the terran.

The M289 bolt action rifle

After years and years of fighting with neither side gaining a foot hold on the other, even with the terran creation of the HVK lightning gun, the skirth have held out and have come back with vengence. The Terran, firm beleavers in progression, found old blueprints to some WWII bolt action rifles, which were just what they need to help out the R8 sniper, which had suffered due to the M50 not being able to be reliable at long ranges, cause the R8 needed suppression fire, this is where the M289 bolt action rifle comes inot play. used for ranged sniping (with scopes of course) and to hit targets with precession at medium and long range.

This bolt action rifle combined with new aged weapon techniques have created a truely powerful and useful bolt action rifle. best use'd for medium and long rang.

The new bolt action rifle of the Terran army, is well beautful to look at, a mixture of smooth lines and hard edges, with a metal look that scares the crap out of enemies.

Prim: a regular bullet maybe bigger then the M50, which will usually kill in a hit to the face or upper chest but like 40 to 60 damage to the arms and legs and 75 to chest. Once a bullet is fired, you'd just reload it (not really since it auto does this) (ply some WWII games to see how bolt action guns works

Alt fire: brings up the iron sights of the rifle, way more accuarte this way. their be two sights one at the end of the barrel and another pretty up close, best thing to do is get both to line up then shoot, but they're almost always lined up.

Special: (open to debate): you grab the end of the barrel and the other side and smash it into your enemies head or whereever it may hit.

each mag clip would have like 5 or 10 rounds (needs to be decided)
totall ammo: like 30 to 50 total ammo

Uggghhh. I so hate the rifle as a club bit. Much rather reload and wail away. With the future and all why not make it a clip fed weapon. The HK ps10 comes to mind clip feed semi aut design of mid range sniping for swat type units.

Bolt actions force you to take your eye out of the scope to load or if you can cock em your sight picture slews around and you have to reaquire. Not a good thing for a sniper who is working at mid ranges, it means that your going to have lots of folks looking for you.

Better to have a squzze the trigger and fire as you aquire a target .
