Why should the M290 and M763 be different? One just has another barrel slapped onto to it and bothe barrels are shorter. To me that doesn't really make a lotta sense that they'd be different, considering they're both 12-guages. I thought it was pretty cool that you just whipped the shotgun at people. I mean, I've heard of pistol-whipping, but shotgun-whipping, thats something entirely new and unheard of.
(its probably not as good idea to shotgun-whip armored guys, either. )

Just because one of the principles of game design is not to keep similar guns; and another reason for that is to make player think before choosing a shotgun 'cause both gonna have advantages and disadvantages.

Let me try address some things that I managed to read. It'll take forever to get through everything here!

The way Skrith fight, they could probably just fine with no armor at all and a rusty old shank. They don't 'charge' across abattle field, they don't cme in hordes, they don't like getting shot at all. They like to kill their enemies before the guy is even aware he's in a fight. They hide and use stealth to get close, then melee attack to very quickly and usually quietly take care of the enemy. A bright glowing energy shield is not Skrith style. They usually fight indoors and favor the dark.

The shotguns? They seem fine now. M763 has range, tight spread, speed, but not too much damage. M290 is powerful, wide spread, slow reload, shorter range. Both have advantages and dissadvantages. I preferre the M290 in close up tight maps where you need to kill an opponent very quickly. M763 works better outside and at range. Its also good at wider indoor maps and most shotgun situations. Its got alot to do with the player's style too.

I'm not keen at all to redo UT's weapons. It just isn't worth the effort and is not RS's style. Plus UT's weapons suck! We'd have to reanimate and rig, reimport, balance, basically redo the entire thing and how much appreciation would we get for that? Plus I don't like working hard on something that just aint right!

We're not going to copy CUT. We can add generic support for non-BW weapons, but taking stuff from others just ain't our way...

We have an idea for Loadot / Buying where you fill space with whatever fits. Few Big ones vs Lots of small guns.

The Skrith rifle ain't totally crap. I have used it to great effect in MP games. If you fnd there's a weapon that just seems useless, chances are it just ain't your gun! Thats where the style factor came into our balancing system. Some people do well with some things and bad with others, while a different player will preferre the opposite. Some people are terrible with grenades while those who like them are devastating with them.

You can currently use BW arena to add in old UT guns as well! Though, the UT guns are a bit weak in comparrison. The guy who is unlucky enough to start with the linkgun, usually has a short life...

It's not the 31st century and its not Earth. It the primative outworld of Project Archon and the year's more like 2150...

We may be making a BW crossbow at some point...

The kits and classes are sort of in line with the direction BW will be taking, so things like that will start appearing in future releases.

BW weapons are not going to change in the way they function. The weapons (and mod) have been successfull for what they currently are, and how SB and DC want them, is how they are going to be...

BUT, what I see coming out of this thread, is an idea to rather lean towards making BW and other mods (like Chaos) a bit more friendly with each other.
Yes, people will want that, and yes some people will not. You can argue until doomsday about it, people are different and want different things...
Technicaly, I'm not so sure about that...and how it would actually work out as far as gameplay goes I've no idea! Also, runestorm likes orginal ideas..."copying" or similar just ain't going to happen.

Lastly, there are good ideas in there, and that's how weapons evolve and become unique, with everyone's input and ideas. So, maybe something will be built on these ideas.

All I can say, is if something was to come of this it won't be soon, as the schedule is kinda full for the short term

again, don't be discouraged and throw the ideas away...who knows...

personaly, I would like to see BW improve the loadout and make it more friendly towards other mods, but that's just my two cents worth

So thats why the only skirth guns are quite compared to any other, makes total sense, guess my other gun ideas for them are useless now

oh and a crossbow, sweet, that'd be cool, same with a class system, as long as its really balanced so that no other class can totally own any other. (unlike BF2)

I'd not use the class system personally, but it's not a bad feature to have.
