Yay! May I suggest something which would have a little kick-back? (Grenade launcher function, burst of lasers or maybe a scatter or lasers (Shotgun lasers!)) (Where I have said laser / lasers feel free to replace with plasma)

If plasma... maybe a flame-thrower style thing but of plasma?

How about a Variable Medium Range Laser AR with Auto Fire, Charged shots, and a short range steady laser beam? Its a start IMO... Ideas are ideas though.

Anyway, were be here once that final product is done. V9 anyway. Then we can move on to V10!

I meant a different style, more flame thrower like (don't get me wrong, I love the dark Star, but sometimes the plasma throw feels more like "fireworks stick")

As for (yet another) steady laser beam; I personally think it would not suit the style of the model unless it was OP, which would be no fun...

P.S if you want to explain why the plamsa effects are different, you could say it is a release of the coolant gas which has heated (therefore a charge rather than an ammo)... idk tbh ^^;

Reminds me of a discussion we had here years ago regarding a plasma thrower (I think it was before the dark star came along).

I remember something about a plasma thrower emitting more of a flexible beam-like emission that can curve, fluxuate and whip around based on your movements. I also remember idea's about making the plasma being attracted to players, vehicles and items (based on the idea of attraction towards any positively charged object)

I think the overall idea was just a more 'active/dynamic' flamethrower that required more attention on the user part as opposed to just squirting out fancy effects. Sounds hard to code though

Since we've got some ideas flowing around here, here's a quick rundown of the main plasma and laser rifle prototypes that may be making their way into V10.

XM20 Laser Carbine:
This is a sleeker and more efficient laser rifle model vaguely based off the long ranged LS14. It will come with an integrated scope and ammo display, but no rocket launcher.
Primary Fire: Sustained laser.
Secondary Fire: Rapid laser pulses.

XM35 Advanced Laser Carbine:
A lightweight, advanced version of the XM20 designed for massive power output. Has a front mounted beam splitter for all that laser shotgun goodness.
Primary Fire: 10 Laser blast. (Overheats)
Secondary Fire: 5 Laser blast.

APHL-505 Marksman Autolaser:
This is the long barreled laser gun shown above. It will be a pre-war laser rifle without all the fancy features of them future guns.
Primary Fire: Powerful laser w/ cooldown.
Secondary Fire: Ion grenade.

AIPR-560 Plasma Rifle:
A slightly more modern version of the pre-war energy rifle. This version, if it goes in, will be a semi-auto plasma rifle.
Primary Fire: Plasma fire.
Secondary Fire: Ion grenade.

These guns will all appear in the prototype pack at some point, so you guys will be able to check them out.

Most likely its due to the way the weapon is positioned in 1st person, they are fine anyway IMO.

that's because sgt kelly used one of my screens where it appears to be big due to my positioning but normally it's not very big.

its fine, i don't really see a problem with them.

Kaboodles is talking about how the holosight is extremely tall. Most holographic sights are square and have the red dot/crosshair smack dab in the center.

as long as we can sight with em its alright in my book.

Future or not, Reflex Sights try not to take up much space, as this blocks the Shooters View.

We just need to see ingame on how it works out, we can only know for sure.

Anyway it might be a little tall after all, but its all up to Blade Sword if hes willing to change it...
