Description:
A pneumatic drill equipped with a water-injector to constantly cool-down the drill bit while being used for extended periods. Its story...? None whatsoever. The terrans just love to find new ways to brutalize the Skrith.

Primary Fire:
Spins the drill bit until it reaches maximum speed. As it spins faster, it deals more damage. Once it reaches max speed, it begins to overheat until it malfunctions and needs to cool down a certain period.

Secondary Fire:
Fires a jet of high-pressure water from an opening in the drill bit. Anyone caught by the continuous blast will be thrown-away with it, great for crowd-control. This uses tons of water, so be sure to have a lot of resources at-hand.

Ammo-type:
The Hydro-bore can be restocked with water in two ways. One is via various ammo-packs scattered in the map (the typical way to get ammo). The other is rather unique for the Hydro-bore - it can siphon water from a large water source (such as pools, rivers, oceans, etc.). This can be done by going to the water source and pressing the Reload button. The siphoning process automatically stops when the water tank is full, so there is no risk of overloading.

Combination Fire:
When the Primary and Secondary fire buttons are held at the same time, it turns the Hydro-bore into a chain gun - rapidly-firing high-pressure water balls that can damage and stun enemies at the same time. In this mode, there is no risk of overheating the drill bit since it is constantly cooled-down by water.

Special Fire:
Sprays the drill-bit with water from its numerous pores. This serves to cool-down the drill during or after the activation of the drill. If used while the drill bit is functioning, it slows down the overall acceleration speed, thus lessening the damage dealt as well as heat produced. It also produces a water mist around the user that can be used to disorient possible opponents.

Fire Modes:
Quickly switches the Hydro-bore into chain gun mode, so you don't have to press both Primary and Secondary Fire keys at the same time.

Well... that's that for my newest Crazy Weapon Idea... The inspiration for making a water-injected pneumatic drill actually came from a morning cartoon I just happened to come across while channel-surfing one forgotten day ago. The problem was that the drill overheats too easily from strenuous work, so it had to be constantly-sprayed with water in order to be able to do its job without delay.

That is actually a really cool idea!

I think it would be smarter for the combo attack to be used by selecting it with the Weapons Fire mode key and then it'd be the primary fire.

Overall, good idea.

I love this idea! That's a cool (****ing puns...) way to reload, too. Good work.

But, I can't help but notice a wierd coincedence happening with all the stranger weapon suggestions around here. Namely, a lot of them sound very similar to weapons I've been working over on paper for a weapon mod I've wanted to make for a while. The high-pressure water shots and the ice shard gun in particular, because one of my weapons fires both of those.

Yeah, it could work that way, too. But I always love how you can quickly change fire-modes by just pressing two keys at the same time (like UT2004's rocket launcher).

I'll add the Fire-Mode key function... but I'll also keep the Combo-Fire intact.

Another reason why I liked the idea of a drill for a weapon is a possibly cool Rag-Doll effect:

When a player dies while being impaled by the spinning drill, his/her body also spins with it for a while until it gets flung to the side.

Nah, I'm not that imaginative to come up with tons of CWIs... Besides, even if just one of my ideas pop-up in BW in the future, I'd be happy.

Hey, the Terrans should be nicer to the Skrith. I personally like aliens. It also seems like there aren't any new Skrith weaps. I think we should consider that.

There isn't a reason why the Terrans should be nicer, the Skrith attacked them first, which started the whole damn war.

It sounds like as if the Terrans are overdoing it though. Building little toys for mutilitation sounds more like Jigsaw's job in SAW.

And kind of dumb for the skrith to use 3 weapons against a Terran arsenal. Maybe they should learn about stealing tech. If you know someone's got the technological advantage, take one of their downed soldiers and study their technology.

Minor gripe, but the Special Fire probably belongs more in the Reload section.

I'd like to see this weapon implemented, it's highly original and we need more melee weapons, especially ones like this.

It's more akin to Q3:A's Gauntlet than it is to UT's Impact Hammer... and much, much more brutal than the two combined.

I was thinking more of the Painkiller when I saw this. Pretty sweet.

It is a little odd, but just like in Iraq, the military deems that soldiers only improve when new weapons are added.

Well i think the devs want to leave any other skrith weapons out for now, even then, i somehow don't see the Skrith using many weapons. Since you really can't change the caliber of the projectile energy that the skrith rifles shoot.

So anyways, as you might've noticed elsewhere, I love this idea!

Although I'd say it could use a bit of tweaking though. A rock drill probably wouldn't be a good idea unless you have a steady base, to keep it drilling straight to lessen the risk of breaking, but some sort of rotary rock grinder might work good, plus it'd keep to basically the same concept.

I love the part where you spray the water out, makes quite a bit of sense. Be useful for clearing away debris and cooling the bit real fast.

The minigun part seems a bit silly, but it makes sense that the volume of water would be fluctuating from the bit spinning around, so it makes sense to me.

I think the minigun bit would be to get enemies' attention, so you could lead them into a trap. It just happens to be painful.

My bola launcher's alternate fire is kinda like this. I'm surprised I didn't notice it before.
