Err.... what do you think sniping is to me? I either use the R78, or the M75 (vehicles). That simple. If you acan't hit the target in the upper torso or head, basically you'd just need to start practicing over again with sniping. Which is what I do a lot, to get my aim up. Same time, the SRS with headshots isn't as useful as the R78 with headshots. And when you snipe, at least make suree you can get in two shots before you think about sniping really. Sometimes they do get into cover before you kill them so then it's wise to allow for 2 shots before they can escape.

Although I do shoot at them if they have time to get to cover if I feel they are extremely high priority targets (flag carrier, bomb runner, anyone in assault not on my team), so the rest of my team can finish them.

Please point out to me where I said the SRS was better than the M50 at short range. I never said that.

I'm not a particularly great sniper, which is why I like to snipe with the SRS. I can Swiss-cheese a guy with half a magazine before he realizes what's happened, without having to rely on head or torso shots. On the other hand, if you hit him and fail to kill him with your first shot with the R78, he's going to take cover before you can line up another shot.

This is where I saw your saying that it was better at short range. That is from going and then reading my post beforethis one, so that's how I got the idea you thought it was better. Not said directly, but was interpreted as that indirectly.

Well I meant that as saying that the SRS wasn't terrible, not that it was better than the M50. If you inferred that, I apologize for not being more clear.

I do find killing bots with the M50 very satisfying...

One of the few times I used the SRS900 was when I was going through all of my guns to kill a powercore, starting by using my equipped M50, then the SRS, then the M353, M75, and finally a G5 to finish it. That was all I had, except for an X3 and a stupid A42

Since I play in loadout, I try to get the most out of the weapon slots I have available, so an assault rifle that doubles as a sniper-lite is incredibly useful (since I play rusher most of the time, a dedicated sniper rifle is worthless to me). In my experience, it's even more stable while running than the assault rifle, which waves everywhere while the battle rifle traces a smooth upward recoil. As a final touch, the battle rifle just sounds much more badass.

As for the grenade launcher, I find it incredibly weak and slow. Instead I just chuck a laserbomb and detonate (again, versatility, because they double as landmines).

The grenade launcher is okay. It could use a speed boost, and a capacity nerf. You can carry like 8 of those things, which is nuts.

Whats the reason for a capacity nerf? Those grenades are not that big. If you can carry 20 Pineapples you can certanly carry 20 M900 grenades. You should be so lucky RuneStorm decided you can only carry 8.

The reason for it is that the grenades have very short range, and aren't particularly strong to begin with. And a buff to one aspect of a particularly well-balanced weapon should be countered by a nerf, right?

Anyway, it's just a personal preference thing. I would like it to happen, but I'm not going to argue about it like I would the AM67 or something.

This thread is turning into a flame war...I'll add some flamethrower gas to it. I personally dislike the battle rifle, simply since it is like a sniper machine gun and has annoying recoil and accuracy.

I do detect opinion conflict on both pages however.

Going back to the original topic, I think some of us dont realise that both questions have been answered already:

The 2 machineguns are not the same and have their contrasting uses. And there is nothing wrong with the battle rifle, it is weaker because automatic sniper rifles should be.

On the two machine guns, I find the M353 to be much more effective as a machine gun than the M925. The 925 has a terrible firing rate, takes too long to steady when you want to fire it, and pushes you back with each shot (something the 353 doesn't do).

Also, both weapons' turret modes are rather useless outside of Invasion (and only due to a glitch where monsters keep shooting at it instead of you).

925 seems to get me more kills with less ammo. I seem to hit way more than the M353, but that's me.

Well one of them is less spammy (slower fire rate) and has better precision, I use this one to camp at a distance and strike targets coming down a corridoor. If I pick a good spot I can often rack up a few kills before anyone realises where I am
It will get me owned if I face multiple targets however.

The other vomits bullets all over the place, I have used this sucker to fill doorways will bullets and killed everything that comes through. Something the other machinegun cannot do. In small rooms a quick sweep hits everything and it rivals shotguns. I use this machinegun to defend interior rooms and passages but its hopeless at long range.

Thats how I treat these two weapons and as far as I can tell, both have a respective use.

The M353 is the bullet hose.

The M925 just doesn't act like a machine-gun should (ie. suppressing groups of enemies with a high volume of fire) It seems more of a very bulky rifle with a huge ammo clip. It's probably the slowest-firing fully-automatic weapon in the game (aside from the Skrith Sidearm). And even with the slow fire rate, the recoil on this thing is nasty, pushing you back an inch with each shot, unless you use the mostly useless turret mode.

And the M353 is far from useless at long range.
