I could easily just hop on over to newegg, get a new vid card, then install XP on this pc I got sitting behind me with dual core processors, each of them I believe 3ghz, and install a decent amount of ram in it, probably could just take out the ram in this computer I'm on right now...

If you are running Bioshock with that video card, then it is pretty obvious that it supports SM3.0.

How to check my computer stuff? How much ram and such? I never knew what it has... Its all my dads comps, thats why.

Guess what, I got a few facts about Bioshock for those who think it is worth the purchase. (the below applies to the PC version only)

1) Did you know that you can only activate your copy on two different computers? After that you need to buy a new copy. Though this limit is not existent on Steam.

2) Did you know that the game won't run on a shader model 2.0 video card? The most popular ATi cards don't support it. nVidia users are not bothered by this since SM3.0 support came early there.

3) Did you know that there is no walking or leaning in the PC version? That's right, the most immersive game of the decade forces you to run and does not give you the ability to look around corners.

4) Did you know that you can resurrect from your death in a nearby vita-chamber without any penalties? God forbid a game should be a little challenging.

5) Did you know that Bioshock lacks proper widescreen support? What widescreen users are looking at when they play the game is a cropped 4:3 image, not true 16:9/16:10.

Damn it.

Also, i pretty sure the game is running well enough on 16:10, it doesn't look odd.

never use Lean in my life, pretty worthless even in CoD and CoD2.

Leaning was pretty much a must in System Shock 2.

If this game is supposed to be a spiritual sequel to it... then leaning is really something you'd want.

In System Shock 2, you really couldn't just charge blindly into a room and expect to always come out the winner. Often times you would want to see if theres maybe a turret in the other room. If you just walk out in the open to check, you provide a pretty big target, and since you don't get much health unless you really work at leveling it up, you really want to avoid any hit you can take.

Also in System Shock 2, when you respawned, you had to pay for it ad you only had a very small fraction of your health. I think it was something like 10 plus your endurance, but I'm not really sure (actually now that I think about it, it was less than that). Either way, that still leaves you with more of a price to pay than just lowered eve and health.

Did you even read my post? 3 of the points I mentioned above are related to anti-piracy measures end technical things, which are far more serious than gameplay faults.

I guess you are too young to understand the bad things about publishers punishing their legal buyers for buying the product legally.

I'm not trying to do anything but to give you the facts. Everyone has his or her own opinion about these things. I'm personally against excessive anti-piracy measures so I don't support that cause and therefore wait for either a new edition of Bioshock or a patch that addresses some of the issues.

But the anti-piracy thing has been explained by the publisher just now. They say that you will receive activation credit if you unInstall the game from a computer with the unInstall application of the game. You can then use that to install & activate the game on another computer.

Although it is better, I'm not gonna support this ridiculous anti-piracy mumbo jumbo with my hard earned money.

I don't see what's the big deal about this anti-piracy thing. It doesn't have any effect on gameplay. You have to be connected to the internet to install, but most people have internet access anyway.

Although I do see a potential problem if the game company goes under and you can't play it anymore.

That is exactly the problem here. Look at Looking Glass Studios, the makers of many great games, if they had put these activations into their games, no one would be playing them unless one downloads a crack.

Plus I find some of these anti-piracy measures to be a plain unnecessary hassle for the honest customer. I have nothing against online activation, but a limit of activations per copy...?

My PC is the exact same except I have windows vista, Dx10 and its built by Compaq, so your PC should be able to handle it at High with around 20 fps at most more than enough to play with.

Your computer won't run a modern game without a video card.
Check the Display tab of dxdiag for that information.

I just got BioShock yesterday at Walmart, but I'm already praying for a patch to come.
I've spent all day and night,erm morning too, trying to fix the S#17Load of problems that come with it.
Among the Worst problems,for me, are random Screen Signal Losses and The game crashing when I try to load a saved game I've also heard of even less fortunate people that have complete sound failure! Though,I am still excited about the game,the portion that I played was extremely cool.
Can anyone here give me an educated guess on when the next patch might be released?

They will release a "revoke tool" for ease of use with the game's authorization key. They also promise to make the costumer hotline less of a headache. Finally, there will be a patch addressing the widescreen field of view."

I guess I'm going to wait for the price to get some lower before buying anything.

Meanwhile, my PC could use an upgrade. A big one... or just a new PC for 1200 euros which can easily run UT3 high graphs.

Most of reported crash "bugs" are just the computers playing tricks on the users. For an educated guess I just need to know your computer specs, OS and driver versions.

As for educated guess on patch release, there is no info at all, but there will be a patch in the near future. It is basically common sense when considering how much of a trainwreck the game release is.
