Is there any way to disable weapon chaos when I get hit?

I'm not sure if the accuracy sliders in the BW config menu affect the hit-chaos, but you could give it a try.

You can change the amount of inaccuracy in the "settings" tab of the BW mutator or the game options if it's a BW game mode. The option you're looking for is "Inaccuracy Scale."

Those only affect when you're firing. I mean when I get hit, my gun goes all over the place. That';s what I want to disable. But I don't think there's an in-game option...

No, the recoil slider affects your aim when you're firing. The inaccuracy slider is what you want, it keeps your gun still when you're moving and stops you from losing your aim when you get shot.

edit: Alright, I think I've found the source of a great deal of the minor bugs and problems I'm the only one that seems to have. I tend to summon in the weapons I want to use rather than use the mutators (because I use weapons from multiple different packs. BW makes up about 90% of that list anyway )

So: The reason stuff doesn't work for me is because I don't use the mutator.

Is Bloody Hell different than the main BW mutator? Because...

When NOT using a mutator:

-Weapon chaos when hit is on, despite the slider being all the way on the left (0)
-Other Ballistic Weapons settings apply to the weapons (no chaos when running/firing, no recoil when firing)
-All other UT2004 settings apply (announcer is male at start of game, and announces every event)

When using just Bloody Hell:

-The announcer at the beginning says "Play" in the female voice, but the announcer is male on killing sprees
-Bots DO use auto taunts, and cannot be disabled
-Weapon chaos when hit is on, despite the slider being all the way on the left (0)
-Other Ballistic Weapons settings apply (no chaos when running/firing, no inaccuracy)

When using just Ballistic Weapons:

-The announcer at the beginning says "Play" in the female voice, but the announcer is male on killing sprees
-Bots do NOT use auto taunt
-Weapon chaos when hit is on, despite the slider being all the way on the left (0)
-Announcer does NOT announce "___ flag taken, ___ flag dropped", instead there is a very quiet "gong" sound (which I actually like much better)
-Other Ballistic Weapons settings apply

I get weapon chaos when hit whether or not the slider says I should, whether or not I use the Bloody Hell or Ballistic Weapons mutators or not.

Anyone else think the red laser is too powerful? Recharging ammo, no 'recoil' (almost I guess), some blinding effect and fairly good damage. The bots kills me all the time with it. I mean you enter a battle and suddenly your vision gets red and you feel a constant flow of damage at you ruinign your aim and blurr your vision (if you have that thing activated).

I don't think it is too powerful, but it sure as hell feels powerful compared to the laser attack of the ViPeR.

Whittles armor away nicely, though...

If you're talking about the laser on the GRS9 pistol, if anything it's too weak...

I think it's perfect given that it has infinite ammo, but the ViPeR laser badly needs buffed. In fact I think the whole weapon is a little underpowered, you can't even one-shot someone with the shotgun mode at point-blank.

Woot!? The bots just burns me untill I dead most of the time. It's damn annoying.


I don't think it needs badly buffing. The beam feels a bit weak yes. But I think the multi shot can kill at close. :/ Not as powerful as the M290 though. One nice thing about the gun is that the projectiles are fast enough. I wish the A73 could have just as fast projectiles. :<

I think the ViPeR does need buffing badly as well.

I think a lot of the "power" problem of the laser is that it blinds the crap out of you but the bots are immune to it, like they're immune to the AM67 flashes, like they're immune to the stock invisibility powerup, like they're immune to practically every status effect like that.

As such, a lot of it is perceived: You can't see much while the bots are frying you with it, but when you try using it, they can turn around and blast you without even thinking about it.

The only thing you have going for you is damage output, which is not good. The bots can blind you with it too, so... advantage, bots.

It's odd though, I thought the Viper plasma gun wasn't too bad... the ring is fairly useless, sure, but the beam was always pretty good.

Interesting to note: You can't hold down the fire button in snipe mode and continuously fire, you have to press it every time to shoot. Dunno how big a deal that is, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

The AM67 flashes do affect bots, actually.

Whatever it is, the red laser and the sub-machinegun with laser pointer is the most dangerous bot weapons. The laser blinds you, the other one always hits your head in some magical way.


I noticed this too. It should be changed me thinks. And a buff to damage perhaps.

Not from what I was playing earlier...

It was implemented into the AM67 during the beta testing if I remember correctly. Seemed to work nicely for everyone.

Although bots base everything on numbers, the effect of blindness, deafness and other humany features can be faked with coding. Though BW still has some situations where bots have a AI-related advantage over us humans, like "seeing through smoke" with no problems.

With the ViPeR's versatility, there's little reason to carry an A73 now. It needs no buffing.

In my personal opinion, it does.

Maybe the sniper mode does a bit, and the ring mode does... a lot... but the beam and the pulse are fine. Playing against Fraghouse Invasion's bosses shows me it can deal up to 400 damage a second with the pulse mode and about 200 with the beam. So those are fine, IMO.

The pulses are fine. The beam seems iffy to me, and somewhat innacurate at times, even when stable. The multi-pulse, aka "Shotgun Mode", needs a bit of a buff, too. Seems fine at close range, just not at medium or long. At short, it's like a shotgun. More like an energy slug at point-blank. Sniper needs a buff as well. All in all, though, a great weapon. Can't wait for the patch to fix these bugs, though.

Viper beam is fine you just have to get the hang of it's use. It is slice and dice. The series pluse works fine too. The ring pulse is somewhat useless but for that I gots me a bunch of shotties to get the job done.

Yup, buffing it a bit would be nice !

But I found in scope mode you can fire at quite short intervals, so if your target don't move too much or if you can aim it long enough, you can kill it without too much difficulties.

However other weapons needs some buff

If I'm not mistaken, the laser uses up more ammo than the pulses. Why would it deal 2x less damage by average? It seems a little illogical to me. There is no reason to use the laser since the pulses are more effective in all aspects. Well, assuming you are damn good at using them and don't miss often.

I have always been pitying the A73. Faster velocity + damage!

Whats wrong with the A73? It does more damage and the shots travel quite a bit faster than the ViPeR (couple shots to the head will put down most any target). I don't know what gun a prefer, but the A73 is far from useless.

Oh my god! A Tank! A TANK! And a plasma rifle from terrans?! And to think I though BW has everything it needed already...
