Considering the large range of rocket ammunition thats been put up, what would be the damage (1-100) for each type against vehicles and people?

But i games good looks means alot.

And thats one of the reasons gaming is in a downward spiral.
Luckily tech is getting cheaper but games are using up their capacity much too quickly.

I'm talking about nice designs, not high techy shaders and such. I wouldn't care much if the graphs stayed like it's currently for 5 years or so, but with the replacement of normal maps inot parralax maps. :} We don't need crysis mega water refraction thing. Well high res textures is a must though, that just requires memory.

Errrm, the RPG shown on the first post, albeit somewhat more high-tech, or even more claptrap looking, depending on company.

I still don't understand why there should be another RPG thing.

I once tried to code in a launchable mine for the SMAT, though it proved too difficult and the bomb usually just floated in mid-air.

The idea of a very-fast, anti-vehicle slug is very similar to the SMAT's primary as well, a sort of single-shot cross between a HAMR and a G5.

Another thing that I hope of is that the new RPG will look similar to the ones used today.

The Russian RPG7 is a very effective anti-vehicle weapon, the first round in the picture shown earlier in this thread is a very potent anti material round, when it explodes it creates a molten jet of copper that can cut through just about anything it hits. So if someone got hit with it imagine a stream of plasma burning up their body, also if this is the same round that the soldier got hit by, and the round went off, theres no way he would of survived. you can stand relatively close to these when they go off but if your hit by one and it goes off then your pretty much toast. There is not MUCH splash damage from these as the shaped charge focuses all the energy in one direction. I don't know much of the other rounds though.

The launcher itself is VERY simple, its based off of the panzerfaust used by the Germans to kill tanks back in the 1930s-40s. This is just a BETTER Russian variation of the same technology. The round is inserted into the tube the safety turned off, look down the sights, iron or scope available, trigger is pressed and it launches the rocket propelled grenade. They are fairly accurate but the projectile is a dumb projectile, no way to control it, they will not travel in a straight line forever though, it gets to a certain range and kinda dies off.

I say for the special a melee bash would be pretty awesome.

Won't do jack to modern tank armor though.

The 'normal' round is just a heat round. Use against vehicles (general purpose).

The 'double' round is for defeting ERA slabs. Use against older tanks and IFV/APCs.

The 'fat' round is thermobaric and thus contains lots of fuel (instead of high explosive). On hitting something, this is all thrown out then ignited, making hugh petrol style fireball. Use against infantry and buildings.

The 'small' round is just a fragmentation device. Use against infantry.

Course, to destroy a modern tank, you need an RPG-29.

And a good pointy round with a timed explosive attached? you know, ram it into people or wall.

I think too many types of rockets for it would be weird. What i think should be worked on more is the explosion. The explosion should look like something from the movies like black hawk down but it not need to be that realistic.

Err, those were not my ideas for rounds, those are real rounds. Personally, an RS incarnation would need only the Heat and thermobaric warheads:

Heat - slightly higher damage to vehicles than G5, small blast radius, low blast damage, hight damage from jet of plasma.

Thermobaric - low damage to vehicles, large blast radius, high damage, if not killed you are flung to floor and on fire. Leavs behind fires (like flamethrower).

Oh, and secondary fire causes you to slug someone with the launcher (primary if no ammo).

Yeah, but spiky one would be cool...

Yeah, RPG7s are cool... If BW (well, parts of it) gets ported to UT3, I'll probably sponsor one.

The one that shoots out the molten jet of copper is the first round showed in the thread, the H.E.A.T. round is a High Explosive Anti Tank round. Thermobaric Creates a large fireball but a rather powerful air-burst as well that pulverizes organs, tissue, bone, and sucks up oxygen in the surrounding area if i remember correctly.

Even these old rounds can hurt the newer tanks, A couple guys armed with these going against an M1 Abrams Would only have to aim for the treads, knock them out and the tank cant move, then the infantry moves in places some sort of charges and... you get the idea.

M1 have reactive armor so i dont know what the charges would do to it.

Please don't. I highly doubt RPG7s would be used 300 years in the future, and I would much prefer an original design. Hell, I wouldn't mind if it worked exactly like the RPG7, but it shouldn't look like one.

Right, it would be hideously outdated... unlike, say, MP5 & M16/203 clones and pineapple hand grenades.



Original designs are fine for the more unusual weapons, but classics like the M16, AK-47 & RPG7 should be left largely unchanged (or at least recognizable), imo. Their 'realism' is part of the fun. Anyway, it's just an idea, right now we don't even know whether BW will be ported at all so no need to worry about such minor details.

You can have realism (though that apparently isn't the focus of the mod) without needing to use very recognizable designs.
