Personally,I like the orange glow,that is my preferred lightning color oddly enough(look at avatar).
They also seem to be asking for a PS3 port.

Why not?

I remember hearing about that custom sounds create problems on the PS3 because of the sound format between the PC and PS3 version. The software that would solve this has not been released and thats causing the problems.

Hell no. I want to make absolutely sure it isn't anywhere in this country before I decide to pay insane amounts of money for the game, shipping and then tolls. It can potentially exceed $100.

My thoughts on the Thor Lightning gun for UT3:

Overall, simply wow. The bots sure know how to handle it. I think they own me with the lighting gun a bit more often than with the shock rifle or minigun, but not by much... maybe not at all. Overall, I love the balance. I think it would satasfy all parties who argued over the funtionality of the BW lightning gun in UT04.

A few specific points... now I'm just nitpicking:

-I like the effects. Lots of eye candy to look at. This gun definately makes good use of the Unreal 3 enginer with all the distortion planes, FOV shifts, saturation, and such. However, I have always thought that the visual effects for BW weapons have always been a bit spammy in terms of how much of your screen they block as you shoot (tactical shotty light, anyone?), especially the Skrith stuff. This is no exception. In my book, the 1st person effects (for the shooter), while insanely pretty, are a bit large and do somewhat impair your ability to see what is going on past the end of your gun, especially when compared the visual impairment to stock UT3 weapons. If you like big and in your face, then you will like this all the more. Also, the shootee (ther person being killed by the shooter) does get quite disoriented from the primary fire, which I bet is the original intent.

-The functionality is well balanced. You can't exactly walk into a crowded room full of skilled enemy bots and just own them, but it can do quite well against a single enemy. I like that the overheat functionality doesn't exist. When headed towards enemy territory, it is pretty fun to just hold down the secondary fire and store up a big old beam of love for someone, similar to the bio rifles 2nd fire. You can definately tell that this is specificly designed to fit in with the stock UT3 weaponry because there is no reloading

-The sounds were awsome, but all the lightning gun sounds seemed to be significantly louder than the normal UT3 guns. Dunno if that's intention or not...

I think it is indeed an awesome weapon, though in my mind, a bit overpowering compared to the shock rifle. I like the big effects, though smaller would be worth it if you could see what was going on a bit more.

A good idea I saw at epic games forums is that you should go into a ragdoll when shot with primary fire. similair to when you fall off a hoverboard. might present some balance issues though

I Kinda see a pattern here, the lightning gun was released kinda after another weapon pack back in the day. Also I see MRS Shotgun "Pitbull Shotgun" with an AM67 skin over. Also On note the handle isn't there for the MRS instead just a normal pump instead.

The pitbull started out as the default (first) shotgun from BW (our alpha) then the devs upon beta, brought down the hammer with the current visual version... and the final beta made it even greater.

Just had to choose Fileplanet... god i hate fileplanet.

Awsome weapon, as usual. The only problem I found is if you get the Beserk and the Pitbull, few can stand in your way as you will be pumping shotgun shells out like mad. A tad spammy, but not any less spammy then the Beserk/Stinger Minigun combo.

Well blame the powerup.

Being a shotgun by nature, it's not as unique as the lightning gun, but pumping lead into your enemies faces never gets old!

I like shotgun, the one note i have on the thing 4 shots with the alt fire takes out a tank, .... Priceless

not that im to interested but.... is it even possible to "cook" these mods for the PS3 version?

I am waiting for the mac version of UT3 still.... outdated mac... yay haha....

I really dont understand how the porting process can be so limited, Epic Games was always saying "PS3 mods... no limits blah blah blah awesomness we da best chyeaaah".

I guess I'll just wait for the mac version of UT3 to get out.

Well, look, none of the other SG's in BW were any difference than this SG... cept the tac SG but it was sponsored. So case closed, get over it.

Man i loved beta2 of it... it was so overpowered, you could easily kill someone from 1 side of Deck to the other with the alt.
