Oh.. (the guy was me ) yep it can penetrate more then Sgt.Kellys one. Well it will maybe penetrate thicker walls but I'm not 100% shure atm. That's why there will be a Beta. However the M75 will still have much more penetration power, when fully charged. And the M75 almost destroyes a tank in 1 shot, while the M99 just destroyes a small vehicle with 1 shot. There won't be a Bipod on that weapon as it's really useless for a 1-shot rifle. And the M99 will just penetrate 1 or walls.
And the toxic bullets are a great idea. Maybe we can make a second firemode where you can choose between toxic and armour piercing.

The model has a bipod but no mounting. Ithink it would be a bit overload it it had a mounting, a laser, melee and a scope. By the way Sgt.Kelly already has a bibot, that is very useful. Maybe I can manage it to, so that the rifle uses different ammo tipes by switching the firemode. (with animation)

I was kinda hoping that it would have mounting as well, so I could set both barretts side-by-side and marvel at their beauty, heh.

Just my personal opinion, but I think the M99 shouldn't have a melee attack., 'coz it would be a bit unfair if the sniper was also able to fight back at close range. Besides, tactically-speaking, snipers can't risk maligning their scopes by hitting their rifles hard against a solid object. The impact can also jar the scope and break the lens inside.

And that's why the melee will probably just be availiable for KF as it can be very very usefull there. The private Beta is already released btw .

Now what you need to do is set up a private section for BETA testing feedback...

Hey, take it easy man. I was just curious what you were doing to make it a viable alternative to the X83. I figured you'd give it more powerful bullets or something, but I just wanted to know for sure.

Variable ammo would be very interesting, and would be uniquely suited to a single-shot weapon. Toxin rounds would be great if you could make it work like the Virus unit in Yuri's Revenge, where the toxin causes the target explodes in a cloud of toxic gas.

I really hope you get rid of the laser, though. If not for realism, then at least for gameplay. A sniper rifle shouldn't be a viable run-and-gun weapon outside of Halo or CS.

If you do decide to keep it, at least give it a visible beam so that enemies can see you point it at them.

Hmm... I doesn't work for me, as well... I tried to look in the weapons database, only their names appear - their models and descriptions don't.

Anyway, I also found that they're placed in the "Others" section of the Arena menu weapon-scheme.

Try renaming the package to BWBPWeapon instead of BWWeapon.

With BWBP in front Ballistic Weapons seems to classify the guns as official weapons.


By the way, I talked to Jack-Carver about the damage in comparison to the X-83. Like he said, his rifle can destroy small vehicles in one shot. This puts it above the X-83 which takes 2 or 3 per vehicle.

Here's a side by side comparison of the heavy snipers:

The SM-AT/AA critically damages tanks and destroys small vehicles in one shot.
The M75 fully charged critically damages tanks and destroys small vehicles in one shot.
The M99 destroys small vehicles in one shot.
The M75 undercharged destroys small vehicles in one shot.
The X83 critically damages vehicles in one shot.

All are lethal versus infantry though X83 and undercharged M75 shots can be survived with extra health or armor.

Checked the animations and staticmeshes in UEd and they seem to be working alright.

I suspect that it has something to do with the Animation filename - it doesn't have a hyphen like the others (BWWeaponsPackAnims, as compared to BWWeaponsPack-Tex).

We will add different ammo types, if that works. And that Virus sniper idea sounds great.

Err... you remember my weapon pack from back in the day? BWv21realistic, and all the BWv21realisticBPs? Those worked to be into the main BW categories just fine. Maybe it has to deal with the fact that there's a UC file in the BCore named BWWeapon, IIRC.

-Dual-wielding it with other pistols gives you THREE hands. Even worse if you got dual Mk.23's, heh.

M99
-Pick-up message has a typo: "Anit Material Rifle"
-Laser sight becomes blue in third-person.
-ATM, it's a little too effective as a shotgun. Has little recoil and running chaos.

when dual wielding 3rd person, the hk is constantly pointed one way, when you turn around it just keeps on pointing in the 1 direction

Same with the M99 laser, it just points the same direction all the time...

Day 2 - Barrett Comparison

How the Barretts stack up to each other. But first a little nitpick:

-Methinks the M99 should be renamed into Anti-materiel Rifle (yes, with a hyphen... and no, materiel is not a typo).

Now for the comparision:

Starting ammo:
-X-83 has 2 reserve mags while M99 has 14 reserve rounds. M99's ammo could be ramped down to 10 starting and 5 per ammo-bag.

Recoil:
-X-83 kicks like a mule (which is a good thing) while M99 almost has none, making it too good as a shotgun (extremely godlike accuracy and precision). M99 needs to have a kick-back recoil as well.

Scoping:
-Jack-Carver's got RS's slow-reset animation code pat-down while WangTang still needs to work on those animations. Only problem with the M99 is that the scoping is still a bit off-center and the laser-sight (while scoped) should be on the left side.

Weapon Position:
-M99 is a little bit too far up the player's screen... X-83 has already addressed this issue...

Sounds:
-M99 sounds awesome, but the volume needs to be hiked up a notch. X-83 needs a little bit more bass.

Ok, we will take care of thsoe bugs and blance the rilfle. I think it might be good if it had a bit less running chaos as the X83 but more recoil.

Just an added suggestion: the pistol could also be renamed to "Mk23 .45cal Pistol" (with the period before the 45).

Well here's a funny one for the pistol: ironsights brings you faaaar too close in the gun. You pretty much only see the front ironsight and not even the back of the gun. This also leads to major clippage. Some animations are still well off to the side...

Pistol seems to also have a 2 hit kill ability. Damage decrease in order I presume?

M99 has the base crosshairs of UT when you scope in sometimes (that small + looking one). Ammo packs give way too much ammo, but the max ammo is just simply the R78's max. On that note, a lot of kill messages seem to be the R78's with the name changed to M99 ECS. I suggest ammo packs giving 5 extras, and you carry a max of 19 extra, making 20 shots total. It is, after all, a one hit kill gun to infantry, which I think is where most people play (meaning not ONS or AS gametypes). Plus, in ONS, you can find ammo pretty easily at your bases and such anyways.

I believe all of the Ballistic Weapons get the plus sign crosshair bug, OC. I've encountered it many times with my weapons.

Hmm... I don't get it too often though (I got it with a stock UT sniper!), so I just assumed bug.

Yeah the MK.23 is very overpowerd as we forgot tp change the damage. The ammo of the M99 will be reduced. It will aslo have more recoil and chaos.

Oh, and one more suggestion, please increase the TurningChaosThreshold by about 10000 in value. I can barely turn the sniper while scoped very fast without it going way off my aiming...
