Status Update!

Progress on the LS-14 Laser Carbine, SRS Mod-2 Battle Rifle, and MR-DR88 Machinepistol is going quite well! Work has started on a flashbang grenade thanks to Scorpion [SK]!

But will the laser be a non-continuous beam (Like from Fallout 3) or continuous beam? If you know what I mean.

I don't know, or think the Ballistic mod has this in general, but an idea i thought would be cool to add, is to have travel times in all bullets like in real life. I don't know, maybe an option that you can check on or off in the Ballistic menu to add realistic bullet travel. I've only seen one other mod do this, and was from ut99. This is just an idea that I wanted to throw out there, just something that most weapon modders don't take in mind when making weapon mods.

I've experimented with projectile trajectory for BW, it didn't work so great. I think theres some code deep in UT2004's core involving ping compensation for projectile based weapons (as opposed to instant hit) that seems to increase projectile collsion based off speed.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but due to the extreme speeds required for a bullet to travel, this small adjustment to collision size becomes an incredibly large adjustment, resulting in head shots before the bullet travels half the distance it should've really travelled.

In short, trajectory and delay for bullets can't easily be implemented.

Hums, thanks for the information about it, that's not very good, because tactical ops have this feature, optionally selectable, yeah it eats more resources and have network issues.

A permanant laser sounds good but you know there is two issues on this
the laser will help the user but on the other hand (your objective) make it spotted
If the laser is very luminous and has a bright color that can create that balance
The SM-AT/AA is pretty much a sniper cannon

But perhaps making non permanent laser I mean a laser that when you press fire It activates the laser, then when you release it launches the projectile and turns off the laser, but I have some doubts

Lol, you made a super weapon unintentionally... I'll admit I had fun using it as a super sniper online, but what else are you gonna do with SMAT and 12 rockets on the roof of a building with targets below. Anyway, the bright lazor Blade sword described isn't a bad idea, but why not slowing it down a bit, and perhaps making the projectile itself brighter...kinda sounds like a stupid idea now that I'm saying it, but hey, with that much thrust, there has to be something like a sonic boom as well as a really prominent trail left behind lingering in the air a little longer than it does now...which will make the user seen unless they stay on the move...Just an idea...

I have an other Idea it's to reduce a lot the splash area since it's make for smashing tanks and flying targets, they are intended to be smashed with full hits. if the projectile was slow there is a lot of sense to get a good splash area, but by that fast projectile speed I think that could balance the weapon and make it less efficient against the infantry

Less efficient, but that doesn't take them off my target list when I'm holding that weapon...I'll still be aiming it at peoples heads down the line... lol...

Yes, all it can do is blind people
